The Initial Impressions Thread

If I had to make a list of people who's tastes I agree with the most...
V5 is pretty high up there, although I'm not huge on the brutal death stuff
I also generally trust Einherjer, although I just ignore anything he says about symphonic stuff.
I usually like things Dodens mentions, but he would probably make some comment involving homosexuality with regards to a good 2/3rds of my collection.
There are a few other people I have pretty compatible tastes with, but I'm having trouble thinking of them.
But Belligerent has awful taste.

I guess I would be pretty low on lists as well since I am an opeth fanboy. I like to think I wouldnt be judged solely on that though.

I cba to remember what most of the people on here are into...people only get remembered if they have particularly good or bad taste...

Okay...
Black Flag - Damaged
I thought this was pretty damn good. Very angry, still sounds dangerous. I still need to adjust to the hardcore sound, though, as I'm still listening to it like I'd listen to metal.

Minor Threat - Complete Discography
Not so great. Good lyrics, but this hasn't aged well musically. Just not that interesting, overall.

Bathory - Blood On Ice
I was disappointed by this. Basically, sounds like a pale imitation of Hammerheart, recorded poorly.

Bathory - Under The Sign Of The Black Mark
Awesome, basically. Some awesome riffs and really cool moments and just generally works really well.

Bathory - The Return of Darkness and Evil
Meh. The tempos are weird, like the drummer is playing too fast. There aren't any interesting riffs. It's basically all the worst elements of the debut combined with all the worst elements of Under The Sign. A few good songs, though.

Damaged is amazing indeed. Rollins has some intense moments and Ginn plays that guitar like a madman. *WWWWWWWOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEEEE* FUCK THIS CITY!!!! RUN BY PIGS!!!!

How can you like Damaged and not the Minor Threat? It is so furious and energetic and damned brilliant. Your post has me SEEEEEING REEEEEEEDDDD!

Minor Threat rules. Maybe he doesn't like hardcore punk.

Myndsnare - Condition: Human

India, 2008

I am having trouble digesting this. I might call this slightly progressive extreme metal. Death vocals, varying speeds, always metal, interesting songs for the most part. At times it's really great, and at times it's just there. I have listened to it like 3 times, and some of it seems more familiar than it should. The production is not stellar, but not overly distracting. Totally listenable for me, but not totally great. I have a feeling that familiarity will overcome any problems I might have with it.

I've been a bit disappointed with new Katatonia. The realease seems to be another copy of "The Great Cold Distance", though that one was much better.
Just maybe a few of nice songs, - but in general nothing special, imo.
