Things people do that drive you nuts!

I was getting a bowl of Honeycomb earlier and noticed someone left the bag inside open and the cereal was starting to get stale. I got pretty mad!

The worst, though, and the one thing that pisses me off more than anything else on Earth, is when people type/write in short hand. Replacing 'that' wif 'Dat' & 'for' wif '4' etc etc.

During my senior year of high school I was handed a paper with all of the above (And much more!) grammatical murder and immediately handed it back to him and made him rewrite it because I couldn't take it. It was rape without lube! I will spend two hours trying to comprehend the meaning/context of words in things written by non native speakers if an honest attempt is made, but that is just too much!

We always talk about the stupid things people do, so I think it deserves its own thread!

Oh, I would also like to add Star Wars and all of its fans. I would be so happy if I lived the rest of my life never hearing about those stupid ass movies again. No more Star Wars bedsheets, candy, commercials etc.

Same for Star Trek fans. The show is OK sometimes (Original and TNG), but I get sick to my stomach when I see people dressing up/talking like Klingons. Seriously, get a life!

-the shorthand thing bothers the shit out of me too...add the horrible grammar most people use nowadays too. Small stuff doesn't bother me on places like an internet forum...but in anything formal, or in speech, I cannot stand improper grammar.
-when people don't or can't look me in the eye when they are talking to me or I am talking to them
-excessively pessimistic people (as displayed here recently).
-sales pitches...mostly at guitar shops. 99% of the time I go to stores, I know as much or a lot more about whatever products I'm looking at than the sales staff which, combined with my experience working in guitar shops, ends up causing my bullshit-radar to go nuts.
-live music performed over backing tracks rather than with a live band
-when people load the dishwasher and don't start from the back
-people who listen to their headphones loud enough for me to hear it from across the room
-lazy eyes

How do you mean? I do it all the time but I assume people realize I can only speak from my own point of things. Actually I kind of get off on people who always write "in my opinion" and "IMO" all the time, like what they had written could be anything but their own opinion unless otherwise stated.

When people say "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less". Hey idiot, if you COULD care less, that means you actually care about it somewhat, thus defeating the entire point of uttering the phrase...ugh! *shakes head*

IMO :D

People who say their opinions as facts irritate the hell out of me.

Unfortunately, I've HAD to use that on a few UM forums to make sure that some of the simpletons I've been in discussions/arguments with understand.
I've been surprised at some who can't seperate opinion from fact, but it happens.

I have entry for stupid things that irritate me:

Last night, about this time, I was driving back to work when this Monte Carlo SS comes to a complete stop in the left lane of a 4 lane major road.
She puts on her blinker and I'm thinking she's hitting the turn lane. She goes through the intersection, riding her brakes, and comes to a complete stop. IN THE LEFT LANE OF A 4 LANE ROAD! After sliding on melting rubber, and getting around her, throwing some NICE language out to her open passenger window, I saw her texting on a cell phone. Her life was spared because I was on the clock for work. There would have been some real interesting x-ray photos of her at the hospital because I would have wedged that cell right up her ass. Cute or ugly, young or old, there really needs to be a ban of cell usage while in a moving vehicle. Putting technology in the hands of those who can't handle it, and then putting the same people behind the wheel of a 2000 pound vehicle is beyond stupid, and it irritates me. On related side note - Countries that protect these people (I'm looking at you, UK!!!) by putting pads around street lights so people don't walk intoi them, are interfering with natural selection....

JD, good to see a justified concern or annoyance that is, one that really could have an effect on anothers life... not that Im saying thats a fact or anything... cause I could care less

just following suit, I believe I expressed that trivial pevs bringing judgement against others are silly and annoying, until now I never considered the intelligence angle though, so I guess dey aint very intelligent either

- Bad manners. I was raised to believe that pleases and thank yous were customary, now they seem to be optional.
- Parents who sit on the train and make their kids stand. Lazy asses.
- Littering
- Raisins
- People who groom themselves in public. I'm not talking a quick run-through of the hair with a comb, I mean people who clip their fingernails, floss, etc. Gross!
- The sound Styrofoam makes when it's rubbing against cardboard
- When people stand on the left side of the escalator

Razoredge:

The aim of this thread wasn't to make fun of peoples intelligence. Writing shorthand requires the same amount of freewill as driving badly. People can write 'normally' and they can also drive safely. It's a choice people make. What's wrong with pointing out strange things people do in society? I think you are misunderstanding something here...

I dont like to see a woman doing her face in the rearview mirror while driving, gotta be as bad a cell phones
