Oh, Gilmour is by far my favorite guitarist, but I wouldn't call him the best.

Pain of Salvation - King Of Loss
Pain of Salvation - Song For The Innocent
Porcupine Tree - Lips of Ashes (good call Bumbleyh)
Dream Theater - The Spirit Carries On (it just makes me feel so good.. no matter how cheesy the song is at times)
Metallica - Master of Puppets (the duel guitar interlude)

John Petrucci- 8min guitar solo in onec in a livetime....thats just wrong..its fucking cool as hell
Kalmah- The Blind Leader.....jaw dropping!
any Opeth solos
children of bodom- Lake Bodom
Metallica- Ride the Lightning
Metallica- Orion

The two solos to "December Flower" by In Flames, done by a non-In Flames band member.

I personally feel the best solo ever recorded, EVER, is the one that goes from 41:50 of Light of Day, Day of Darkness. Its REALLY long, around 2 minutes or so, and its simply OR-FUCKING-GASMIC!!

That last note, when it goes...WAHHHHHHHH in an incredibly high pitch just fucking rules.

Money is a very close #2 to my ears.

 I've always thought its the best, but no one ever agrees...:yell:

My list for PF solo's is as follows -

1. Money solo
2. Shine on You Crazy Diamond Solo (the one that gets going in the second 'half' of the song.
3. Comfortably Numb solo
4. High Hopes solo (although many PF fans don't seem to appreciate The Division Bell I still feel that the solo that finishes this excellent song is one of Gilmour's best. Certainly the best one since Water's left. A classic)

That should do it.
