At least Mexico was qualified for the World Cup ;) Belgium didnt :bah: And Belgium wasnt even qualified for the last Euro... And it seems that they womt qualify for the next one either.... Thats a shame, before that, they qualified 5 times in a row for a world cup or something...
Anyway, I will just do like previous year, i will support Germany. Better chances to see games that dont make you fall asleep after 20 min like it is with Belgium...
But... but... isn't Belgium like one of the best teams of Central-Europe?

Do DT support any football team?
I suppose they support Sweden. ;) Speaking of Sweden, does Larsson still play? How about Ibrahimović (the guy with croatian parents) and Ljungberg?

CAMPIONI DEL MONDO!!! :kickass:
Yes, yes, but when i went to Italy last summer nobody seemed to care that they'd just won the cup except when Mikael mentioned it at the Evolution festival...

Does anybody have any thoughts on the next (south-african) world cup?

The final match was on july 9th, while evolution was on july 15th. we love football but I don't think we would actually celebrate for one week non stop, you know.

We celebrated a lot in all cities. even riots with the police arised. we didi celebrate! :)

Oh, give it time and it will come. No offence meant to those who love football/soccer, but the worse the living conditions for the population are, the longer and harder they're going to party next time the team wins something. Anything.

I was there before Evolution (and also after it), and i didn't see a single person excited about the cup. Eh, i guess rahvin is right. ;)

Ibrahimovi? and Ljungberg defenitely still play, I don't know about Larsson though. I support Sweden too by the way!
Yay, thanks for the info!

Henrik Larsson is still active. He plays for Helsingborg in the Swedish league (Allsvenskan). He left FC Barcelona last summer where he played in a jersey totally free from commercial and joined Helsingborg to play in a jersey totally free from any area without commercial. He's had a major impact on the league, increasing the interest etc. - but has hardly dominated as people in the media speculated that he would upon his homecoming. He added an extra boost for Helsingborg during the last half of the season (we play spring-autumn here) and helped his team to collect the Swedish cup title that year.

This year, IFK Göteborg will surely win the Swedish cup. If not, I'll call Luciano Moggi.

I watched Larsson play earlier this week. Bad game, poor quality of the pitch (grrreat idea to host a Monster truck event there the weeks before), 0-0, IFK Göteborg should have won.

(And I support Sweden too)

But... but... isn't Belgium like one of the best teams of Central-Europe?
not really one of the best, but they always got quite good results for such a small country... The best they ever did was when they were 3rd at the Euro in 72, they were in the final of the euro in 1980 and 4th in the World Cup in 1986.

So Larsson doesn't play for the swedish national team anymore?

Jud: Then why do FIFA video-games always make Belgium good-enough to make players sweat? :D Just kidding. Hey, fourth place is better than anything Mexico has even gotten close to...

but now, Belgium has become really bad and they recently lost 10 places in the FIFA ranking... they are 62th now. But i heard that in the "less than 21 years old" team, we have some good players. I havent seen any games because we dont have Belgian TV Channels here, and anyway, you dont see the young team very often on TV.

Actually i had the videogame World Cup 98 and i could beat Brazil 10-0 with China :D

@uc: it's complicated. actually, nobody or next to nobody would celebrate at Evolution because most heavy metal fans hate soccer. most of them genuinely don't like it, but some of them diss it because it's not "cool" or alternative enough, it's just seen as a mainstream kind of entertainment form.
where i work, which is pretty high-brow but still male-dominated and predominantly Southern, we had a huge emotional wave going on for weeks. and it's not a legend - italy's GDP had a spike the 2 weeks after the world cup, the "winner's productivity increase" is actually truth not fiction. i think that the further south you go the more enthusiasm about world cups you're going to find, and also males are going to be more enthusiastic than females eventhough some female fans are really rabid (on account of finding some players gorgeous etc). as for the next world cup, we're obviously going to win it again ;)

hyena: Again, i wasn't only at Evolution. I was a good three weeks in Italy, of which maybe three days were spent at Toscolano-Maderno. Granted, i was in the northern half of Italy only (the farthest south i made it was Rome), but still i didn't see or hear anything football-related at all (not counting the new blue shirts with four stars on them and Mikael's statement at Evolution (which, incidentally, made people cheer quite a bit, so i guess the enthusiasm at Evolution was greater than elsewhere ;) )).

Jud: Bwahahaha, yes, that's one thing i love about video-games, the "best" team doesn't always win. :D Never liked China, though..

I can tell you that on June 9th 2006 I was in Torino donwtown...and I've never seen so much people goin' crazy and even crushing stuff on the street :loco: ..the most insane "party" I've ever been to, believe me. Such a warlike atmopshere
I don't know 'bout Evo, but hyena said right 'bout football related to Italy's metalheads..most of them are completely indifferent..some (very few, to be trve) almost hate it.

No offence, but Belgium quite sucks  Far more better Netherlands, Germany and Czech Rep.

So Larsson doesn't play for the swedish national team anymore?

Not since after the World cup.

It's debatable if he'd make the team these days since Sweden somehow during the last year or so managed to build up a number of high classed strikers such as Markus Rosenberg (Werder Bremen), Johan Elmander (Toulouse FC), Marcus Allbäck (FC København) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Inter).

Kennedy Bakircioglü recently signed for Ajax so we'll see what that'll develop into. Rade Prica was the top scorer in the Danish league last season and we've got a few u21 strikers that are doing well in the Swedish league this season, players with a lot of potential such as Marcus Berg (oh my!), Johan Oremo and Emra Tahirovic.

That, my friend, was your first terrible mistake. ;)

Bad grammar, or physical mistake being there?

Edit: Ok, ok on June 9th I was playing a football match with my friend, just in Torino, on July 9th I was there again!

About DT: Ok, probably they support Sweden, but about football teams?

The latter. Being new-ish here you might not be aware that I was born and have been living in the aforementioned town for all of my misguided 30 years. Whatever your reasons for prowling the dark recesses of Via Po or Piazza Vittorio or Piazza Castello on that fateful night, my heart goes out to you: this place has been full of forced mirth since the dreaded Winter Olympics. Most Torinesi's faces are going to explode soon if they stretch that smile a little wider.

[Never liked China, though..
me neither but they suck so it was worth trying to beat Brazil with them :p

yeah but those country are bigger than Belgium (exeption of the Nederland, it is not much bigger...) so there are more chances to find some better players. Belgium is a really small country, and for a small country, i think the results they made were OK. But since 5 years they started to really suck, and now i dont even remember having seen them playing so bad since i can remember watching football...

They had a boom in the eighties, and during Euro 2000!
