Euro 2004 road to the final

[RANT]

Something that REALLY pisses me off is that, for some reason, the American countries each have a team to play eachother and a different 'national' team that represents the country in the world tournament.
The Colombian national team is a crock of shit, they've had their chance, the players get arrogant and cocky, and they always end up fucking up in (getting to) the world cup. And not surprisingly, they're not doing well at all in the preliminaries for Germany '06 :/

I really wish this other team could represent us in the world tournament, they've done very well the past few years and can definitely take on the world. Colombia went through the entire previous Copa America, a few years ago, without receiving a single goal, and easily won the tournament; and they're doing quite well in this one also.

As I understand it, the European countries have one national team for any and all international tournaments. I have no fucking idea why we don't

@Mags: yeah, as far as i know we have one national team. But the olympic team is a different one, and that's why we're gonna suck at it. :p

yes, and some of the pre-something games are held in my town. damn it that most of them are women's football though.

Well I'll be damned...
I didn't know that.

..how do they fit so many events and so much going on in one city and in such a short period of time?
Football is the only game that is held in 5 cities, in a period of 18 days (there are games in 13 days only). For example the quartefinals of women are held all in the same day, one in each city. The quarterfinals of men are held the next day in 4 different cities. And so on...

Yeah, in the Olympics you can only have 3 players over the age of 23, or some similar rule. Which is why Olympic teams are different from "normal" teams, and I believe I heard that at least one South American fielded their Olympic team during the Copa America to give them a better chance at the Olympics. I'd be very surprised if Columbia did that though... it's a mystery to me why they apparently played with a different side instead.
