The Official Band/Project/Whatever (yours or anyones) Promotion Thread

There's this awesome prog-metal band called Symphony X. They have some pretty good albums, but I don't think that all of you guys would like them...

Another generic power metal band. Stay away from it.

Ryan, 1:29 was weird but the guy's pretty awesome indeed.

My band Enbound have released the debut album "And She Says Gold" this spring. It's melodic metal with a progressive touch!
The artwork is done by Thomas Ewerhard (Avantasia, Edguy, Masterplan) and the mastering by Björn Engelmann (Rammstein, Primal Fear, Sonata Arctica).

And my mate happens to play the keyboards.

Hello everyone!
I've been a lurker on this board for some time and i finally decided to register. Anyways, I recently recorded a demo with my band "Impulse" from Bosnia. We play alternative/progressive metal with female vocals, there is some SX influence there, especially our keyboard player. I would really appreciate some feedback from you guys, i know the production is not very good but we didn't have better equipment. Here is the myspace link

Thanks in advance!

Cao! LOVE to hear that there is something else being made in Bosnia than the horrible folk music that everyone seems to listen to these days! I think you guys did a good job! Honest opinion coming up, and I should say that I don't know a single technical term, I'm just going with what I hear and how I react to it: the male backing vocals would be the weakest part of the songs in my opinion -he does not hit the notes all the time. The two tones of voice don't mix too well either (except in The Core, that worked quite well) so I would remove the guy. Pictureimperfect sounds like a fast track, but the vocal melody takes it down a few notches, which didn't really work for me. I'd definitely like to hear some upbeat vocals on that one. I'm happy I can't hear an accent in the vocals, but I also cannot distinguish most of what she's singing. That might have most to do with the production, which you can't do anything about right now. The Core sounds the best to me. The vocals are good and go well with the music too. The music is good prog, but I would work on the vocal melodies. They tend to get a bit flat and one dimensional, which makes one song difficult to distinguish from one another.

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh. I am a very direct person and I tend to be brutally honest, which is not always a good thing, so sorry about that, but I would love to see you guys do well and prove that cheese is not the only great thing Travnik can produce! There is a lot of potential here!

First of all, thank you very much for your feedback and don't worry it is not harsh at all, we are always welcome to constructive criticism. Thank you for giving us your honest opinion, it's always good to hear how other people perceive our music. We are doing our best to improve every aspect of our music and we are aware that vocal lines still need some work and we are working on it. This demo was a little bit rushed because we were on a deadline and had to finish everything within a few days. We are hoping that our next demo will be a big step forward in terms of quality.
Sadly you speak the truth about the state of the musical scene in Bosnia. Folk music totally dominates the scene and there is just no room for bands like us on the scene. Sometimes it is very hard because nobody seems interested in this kind of music but we truly enjoy making this kind of music and that gives us hope and the willpower not to quit playing.
Once again, thank you very much for your comments!

Hey people! My name is Christian Muenzner, I play guitar for the german prog death metal band Obscura (on the 2 recent albums Cosmogenesis and Omnivium) and used to play in Necrophagist (on the album Epitaph).
Since some people say they hear hints of Symphony X in some of my songs, I thought some of you people here might dig it but not have heard of it yet. Working with me on the album were Steve DiGiorgio and Jacob Schmidt (Bass), Hannes Grossmann (Drums), Daniel Galmarini (Keyboards), and it has guest solo appearances by Bob Katsionis (Firewind, Revolution Renaissance etc.), Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry), shrapnel recording artist Derek Taylor (Eniac Requiem, Crimeny), Ryan Knight (ex Arsis, Black Dahlia Murder) and Alex Guth (Stormwarrior).

You can check out my music here:

You can order the album directly from me (as explained on the soundcloud page), you can buy the digital versions on Bandcamp, Amazon MP3 and CD Baby, ITunes will have it within the next couple of days, physical copies will also be available on Guitar 9 and CD Baby soon.

Hi everybody.
I liked to share my new guitar track.
It´s been long time since I started to record this and the problem was the lead tone.
I started this song when I got my first Rash guitar and did all the backing guitars with Triaxis.
Somehow I felt that I can´t find good lead tone for my song. But then I got my Axe-Fx Ultra...
...After that my Triaxis rig has no lights and Ultra has been used almost every day
After all I found my lead tone to fit this song and all I can say that I´m very happy with it

So if you have few minutes time, please listen to my song and give some feedback.

Drums are just some audio drum loops, so a bit boring, but this is all about guitar and my passion for this new guitar I got and Axe-Fx.

I hope you like it!
