The official FIFA World Cup Deutschland 2006 Thread

right, it's deutschland-italia next week then. we'll be back with our shields or on our shields.

yeah, the team's not exciting, and the defense is the best part without any doubt. still, you've got to hand it to some forwards as well - toni did a great job tonight. i'm wondering who's going to play next week.

Argentina should have won, Argentina should be in semi-finals. Yet they aren't, all because of that stupid referee!!!

Now really, the referees on this WC have been really, but I mean really lousy. "tis the worst I have ever seen in any WC.
I saw all of the first half and a lot of the second before I had to leave for work, and from that I can safely say the referee is the best I've seen in this tournament so far. Where many other refs would've booked 4 or 5 players in the first half, this chap was sensible and calmed the situation down instead. And the Maxi Rodríguez incident to which Taliesin referred was most certainly a dive.

EDIT: I meant to say, before this match I thought that whoever won it will win the tournament. Looks like Germany are on their way to equalling England's tally of one world cup victory (the others don't count, they were West Germany back then; calling it four wins puts them too far ahead of England :p).

This guys name is Lubos Michel and he is from Slovakia. Thanks for those words, Rusty, I think hes a very good ref, too (and not only because Im a Slovak). Hes gonna lead the final match, youll see. I think Germany played well, although Argentina played a lot better in the 1st half. Klose scored a great goal, penalties are a lottery.

Well, Iwas probably on drugs, since I was the only who saw a hand at one time :p .

Hmmm so that was a dive? It seemed like a penalty to me, but oh well, I'm wrong I guess.

I stll don't like the referee though :p .

Well, Italy passed to the next round, overwhelming (and uneXpect-ed) victory IMO.
I thought that Ukraine would give Italy some challenge, but apparently they didn't. And if they did they didn't do a very good job.

I didn't saw the match, were the italians that good?

Anyway, I don't think I'll be able to see the game between England and the other team (forgot...), since I'll go to a party to celebrate Canada's Day :kickass: :headbang: . Yay lots of tasty food! I'll eta till I :puke: hehe  .

Also, I hope that Brazil finally freaking looses. Everyone knows that France doesn't deserve to be where they are, yet I obviously prefer them to pass onto the next phase than Brazil doing that.

BUUU Brazil BUUU!

PS: Thax for the info about Mexico, whoever posted. Forgot to say thanx before hehe. The elections are about to start right? Let's hope a decent guy wins.

finally england and brazil are out. they both didn't deserve to stand in the quarter final but france doesn't really deserve to be in the half final either. well... one had to win. Germany will kick Italian arses and France will be owned by Portugal -> final Germany-Portugal

Remember this one? Got it for my birthday.... :)

Must say I love France. Wonderful match and a great goal from Titi. I think they'll make le finali. My bet is France-Portugal 3-1 and Italy-Germany 0-1.
Who wins the whole thing? Germany.... What do you think?

I watched Sweden two last games in a bar in Jamaica. Now I must scream. Wonderful goal from Larsson in the England match. A couple of years Zlatan made on just like it and Larsson's comment was: Unbelievable! No one but him can score a goal like that.... Hahahaha... Gonna forget about his missed penalty. He has almost never missed one before. Talking about nervous…

The teams I wanted to win are out in penalty shootout. Brazil was owned by France, and justly I must say. Ronaldinho was probably anywhere else, but taking part in this World Cup. The way Lampard and Gerrard fucked up their penalty kicks, shit! Well, what do have there - Italy, Portugal, Germany and France. I dont like the first two teams, because the level of their skill is matched and maybe even overcome by their unfair diving and acting. Ive never liked Germany, but they have won my sympathy, and so did France. So I hope its gonna be them in the finals and let the luckier win the cup.

I must say, France had the most impressive game of the tournament today. Zidane controlled the pace of the ENTIRE game, he was great. Brazil deserved to lose because they've been unimpressive lately. Probably should've given the ball to Ronaldinho so he could set up some plays, though. Portugal doesn't deserve to be this far, and I don't think they'll win. I guess it's Germany vs France... Germany will probably win.

Hahah what did I tell ya? Brazil sucks, big time!

Finally, those guys don't deserve to be where they are. The same with France, which didn't really show good ability, yet they pwned&^^9&&^$ totally Brazil!!!

Quite an amazing match, I couldn't believe that France was controlling the game so much. I watched in the Canadian Club party, so as ye can probably guess, there were losts of "quebequois" supporting France.

France's goal was great IMO.

Still, what a pity with England, I really wanted them to pass, Portugal isn't that good. Then again, the Brits apparently suck at penalties :ill: .

Hmmm, the final match will probably be Germany vs. France, and if France plays like today the next games, who knows, they might just win.

Still, we might get a few surprises on the next games, maybe the final will be Italy vs. Portugal, who knows? :p A lot of things went uneXpect-ed during this WC, so I'm not sure about the next games.

Speakin' of the Portugal-England match..... Talkin' about one person makin' the whole game. Portugal's goaly made them win, not a teameffort at all. Robinsson sucked big time and Ricardo was. Even though they tried to score it was a game of just holding back. Portugal almost played for a tie and then it's really hard to score. To bad Crouch didn't play from start. I think he's been one of Englands most useful players in this tournament. Tok bad that they leave him alone at the top. He can't score all by himself. Goals of players going deep and run all by himself are rare and hard to make, like the one Larsson did in '94 (it was beautiful). If you put all effort on one card and the other team wants a tie full time you end with penalties adn who eins then: The team with the best goalkeeper....

I agree with you, Ricardo and Crouch were the best in the match, really too bad Crouch didnt play from the beginning. The way he was collecting ALL the balls that had been flying to him was awesome, he won every fight, and either passed the ball to his mates or tried to attack. Portugal was passive, they didnt really seem to want to score, whereas England was trying hard and had some chances.

OH MY GOD! HOW THE HELL DID ITALY WIN? Great game, actually. Italy played really well...
