If I were Zidane... and I had to put up with people saying "you over rated bald sack of terrorist arab shit" in every game... I'd vow... the last player to call me an over rated bald sack of terrorist arab shit is gonna get his fucking chest caved in.

Viva Zidane!!!

Even though I'm sitting now, I'm giving you a standing ovation :D

zidane proved to be just a jackass with no brain... nice end of career.. losing a world-final and being sent out.. so ridiculous.

Whatever he said to Zidane he must have thought it was worth it, for there where time. At least 6 seconds and you get to think many different possibilities in only 2.

I remember when I was in a danceshow and I forgot my steps. I had about a second to figure them out and still had time to go through different parts of the dance, so I do not believe that Zidane did anything rash or so. I believe he knew that Materazzi was going to think "Harhar, now you're fuckin' pissed of and can't do anything about it, you stupid fuck! I got you and it will disturb your game.". Fuck him, I say! I know it was the finali, but it still was Zidanes last game and he did a good one. Materazzi destroyed it..... You canät let people get away with things like that. I know some think if you do you have a menatl advantage, but if you knock him down he will at least hopefully not be happy about it or maybe even understand what an idiot he was....

Seen on a French forum:

"Il était joli le coup the boule de Zidane dans le ballon... ah non dans le joueur :p "

"Oui, magnifique! ça c'est une belle fin de carrière en équipe de France!! On peut dire qu'on se souviendra de lui pour son exceptionnel jeu de tête!!

what means:
"It was nice, the way Zidane hit the ball ... i mean the player :p"

"Yeah, wonderful! That is a nice career end in the French team! We can say he will be remembered for his exceptional head playing"

ps: head playing: i dont know if this is the right term to use in English...

I found these comments in an international sport forum:

Sure, some french supporters can call you (italians) cheater, but most of us respect you. That needs to be said.

I don't think Domenech's coaching was bad, he waited patiently to change players and replacing Henry was logical given how exhausted he was.

So, congrats to the Italians who'd been waiting for 24 years before winning it again, "rendez-vous" in September at the Stade de France for the Euro 2008 qualifiers.

All the teams deserve respect. Victories are often synonymous of details at that level of competition. That could been Germany, Portugal or France...but it's ITALY. Congratulations to them.

There is no monopoly of cheat or anything else. i can give many examples of that for a lot of countries and clubs. I visited a lot of stadiums, countries and saw a lot of matches.

These are very good examples of friendship in football. These are what should be said between rival supporters.
I liked expecialliy the first one.

it's hard to translate the pun. if my french doesn't fail me, it could be something like "he'll be remembered for being great at using his head". that's probably a way to keep the ambiguity between the physical meaning of head and the metaphorical meaning. french (and italian) are accustomed to have an almost constant ambivalence between the two, but english prefers "mind" to "head" in a lot of cases.

and yes, the name-calling is pretty ridiculous. for heaven's sake, guys, it's eleven people on each side. actually: it's eleven people who are, for the most part, illiterate cunts on each side. they represent nothing about the country of origin. if you feel like you're somewhat recognizable in their behavior, you're idiots. if you feel someone from a certain country you talk to on the internet is recognizable in the behavior of the team players waving his or her same flag, you're also idiots. and you probably hate pizza anyway.

One day passed I see I reacted inappropriate and on the same level like Materazzi. I value fairplay a lot and I get a bit too emotional when it comes to football and such dire actions. But spitting on the other players, intentionally hitting them with your ankle, making racist statement... I don't think such a team really deserves to win. The same was when Serbia and Cote d'ivore were playing - the camera was actually close enough to hear what the player was saying.

I know exactly what you mean and Im still pissed off :err:
What happened in the other match and what did he say?

@ rahvin: xeah it can be translated that way...
I didnt know very well if English uses the same expression for both meanings of the sentence...

using is head, meaning "hitting someone with his head" and also "hitting the ball with the head" (like on a corner, to try to score)

I meant the country. However, I'm not sure if the German national team is financed by the country's budget (in order to count the teams' and the country's budget as the same, when meaning).

And yes, possibly, Germany has lost money in conclusion.

ah, no, I didn´t throw these two things together, and I didn´t count in the team´s budget into the country´s budget.
The team´s budget comes from their sponsors and their income from TV- and other broadcasting, and partly from the FIFA (that last source is a guess). But I assume that in one way or another, the country also donated some money to the national team.

nah, no offense taken, at least from me. anyway, i'm curious as taliesin is about what happened in the other match, and also about the translation of what you wrote yesterday. could you please let us know? no retaliation whatsoever :)

@Hyena, Marduk1507 Vizjaqtaar made a comment about the the Italian mentality and them beeing fashist scum just like the Serbs are. It altogether made me wanna puke on his arrogant attitude.

Yeah, Cuth, I know what he said, my confusion was based on how I had viewed Vizjaqtaar until that moment. I think he even made some references to Macedonians (MAK******SKO POSRANO). Although he apologised, the stain remains.

Somebody explain to him that people can be wrong, and should not be judged on the basis of a single episode. Viz said he was particularly emotional in that moment. "The stain remains"? What are we, the East German secret police? Next we'll be judging people's character based on the fact that maybe they punch trees or parked cars when they're drunk.

And I'm not offended by being called a fascist, anyway

The stain was a weak metaphor, yes, but Im sure you get my point. I would never expect anything like that from Vizjaqtaar, based on my accumulated knowledge about him. ;)
