As for the fifth... I'm torn between Kalmah - Swampsong, Bloodbath - Nightmares Made Flesh and Testament - First Strike Still Deadly...

3) Why are you on this forum? What brought you here, etc.
I wanted to expand my tastes and knowledge in metal, and wanted somewhere to talk about the music I like. I'm glad to say that both have been fulfilled.

4) Top five favorite bands at the moment (in metal, I presume)?
At the moment...
Ancient Rites
Bishop of Hexen
Hollenthon
Tvangeste
Haggard

However, there are certain bands which continue to grace the upper echelon and which shall always have a place:
Kiuas
Turisas
Moonsorrow
Emperor
Kamelot
...

5) Five albums that had a great impact on you?
Black Sabbath- Black Sabbath (first fucking metal album, and probably the first I owned. Of course, back then, I wasn't as huge into metal as I am now; I just thought it was a killer record)
Blind Guardian- Nightfall on Middle Earth (this album opened the door to more modern metal for me. While it isn't "underground," it introduced me to power metal and other less-than-mainstream bands. So it was kind of a starting point)
Emperor- Anthems to the Welkin At Dusk (epitomizes the beginning and near-mastery of symphonic black metal, which I think is a match made in hell )
Moonsorrow- Kivenkantaja (credit for getting me into folk metal; it's still one of the best of the genre)
Amorphis- Tales of the Thousand Lakes (got me into melodic death metal; also a great mix of doom and folk)

and what the hell...
Therion- Secret of the Runes (an epic magnum opus of symphonic music, in my opinion)

6) Anything else you'd like to mention about yourself?
I play guitar, but can't play metal. I prefer blues and acoustic folk. I love reading and writing, and I'm a literature major/history minor at the University of South Florida.

1) What is your name?

Stephanie Murray. Prefer to be called Steph.

2) Where do you live?

Perth, Western Australia.

3) Why are you on this forum? What brought you here, etc.

To find new music to listen to and to waste time.

4) Top five favorite bands at the moment?

Iced Earth, Susperia, Amorphis, Anthrax and In Flames

5) Five albums that had a great impact on you?

In Flames - Clayman. One of the first metal albums I personally bought myself.

Arch Enemy - Stigmata. I just love everything about this album.

Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry. I learned a lot of TS on bass when I first took up the instrument. Also this album is one that my dad passed onto me when I was younger, hoping I wouldn't listen to music my mother liked .

I can only think of 3 at the moment.

6) Anything else you'd like to mention about yourself?

I'm quite a friendly person, very opinionated at times. I want to be a coroner eventually when I can get to college. I love reading, playing my bass guitar, and at the moment I have a fetish for Hugh Laurie from House. Yummy.

Tim

2) Where do you live?
Ontario, California (about a 45-minute drive east of Los Angeles)

3) Why are you on this forum? What brought you here, etc.
I was redirected here (to the Children of Bodom forum) from the official CoB website and posted there for a couple months until people from the GMD came in and mentioned it, leading me here. I enjoy this forum for its interactive metal coverage and unique characters. :)

4) Top five favorite bands at the moment?
My all-time metal favorites:
Blind Guardian
Carcass
Decapitated
Satyricon
Children of Bodom

5) Five albums that had a great impact on you?
1. At the Drive-in - Relationship of Command (introduced me to harsher styles of alternative rock)
2. Blind Guardian - A Night at the Opera (introduced me to more underground forms of metal and sealed the deal for me with heavy metal)
3. Children of Bodom - Follow the Reaper (served as a gateway into bands with harsh vocals and various types of death metal in general)
4. Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse (my first real black metal album, marking the beginning of my metal obsession)
5. Death - The Sound of Perseverance (got me into death metal)

6) Anything else you'd like to mention about yourself?
I'm an outgoing people-person with an accessibly offbeat sense of humor; I love reading, writing, or anything that involves literature. I also like almost any kind of music or film, and I'm constantly ready to try new things.

This thread is a good idea.

4) Top five favorite bands at the moment?
No idea, but the top plays are probably:

This is because I was in the Adirondacks for a week and I only had 1 gb of music available.

1) What is your name?
Ferret

2) Where do you live?
Sydney Australia

3) Why are you on this forum? What brought you here, etc.
Quite a lot of my 'gig buddies' frequent various band forums on here. I tend to mostly hover around the Transcending Mortality and Metal Evilution forums, occasionally popping up around Lycanthia, Maiden Down Under and odd spots like GMD.

4) Top five favorite bands at the moment?
Dream Theater and Tommy Emmanuel are pretty much permanent #1 and #2. At this particular point in time I'd say the rest of the list consists of Sylvan, Friar Rush and A.R.K.

5) Five albums that had a great impact on you?
Metallica - anything from Kill 'Em All to self titled
Iron Maiden - Ed Hunter
Helloween - The Dark Ride
Dream Theater - Images And Words
Tommy Emmanuel - Only

6) Anything else you'd like to mention about yourself?
I generally hate pointless surveys and am only here because I'm really fucking bored. At least these have their own thread and aren't being spammed as 'bulletins' on MySpace though.

You can call me by the name I registered under. I suspect if I wanted anonymous people to know my real name, I'd have used that.

None. Music doesn't impact my life, I don't get "energized" by it, it doesn't make me feel a certain way, or offer insights into the unknown. It is simply there for me, and that is all.

lol

1. What is your name?

You can call me by the name I registered under. I suspect if I wanted anonymous people to know my real name, I'd have used that.

Why so secretive?

5. Five albums that had a great impact on you?

There must be some bands you like that have had a slight impact!

Please... just stop speaking. I dress like a metal head, because I like to. I like the shirts, I like the fact that if someone recognizes a shirt of mine, I've made an instant friend pretty much. If we like to dress and act like this, that doesn't make us sheep... it means we do what we want to. Acting like a metal head isn't exactly following the crowd, in case you haven't noticed
We get a poster like you every now and then. One of you dumb fucks who think you're better than everyone on here and begin hurling insults and acting like a douche bag. Calling people sheep and telling us the music is nothing to you and that we're weak for it being something. You're pathetic. I take solace in the fact that you're probably reading this after fapping to internet porn in your mom's basement, and probably will be doing the same in 10 years.
