Candlemass-Epicus Doomicus Metallicus(blew me away on first listen)

Mgła
Black Comedy
Devourment
Seamount
Deathspell Omega

5) Five albums that had a great impact on you?

Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris (even though I still don't own a physical copy [though I should!] this album made me realize the intense passion and beauty in metal to a greater extent than I had before)

Wormed - Planisphaerium (really opened my eyes to the extremity of death metal; remains among the best death metal albums I've ever heard...totally fucking awesome in every way...and I know it by heart)

Tool - Lateralus (I got into Tool late, through the song "Schism" on this album, but they soon became my favorite rock band ever right after...this album is just ridiculously fucking awesome)

Ozric Tentacles - Waterfall Cities (the combination of techno/trance, progressive rock and psychedelia really appealed to me...to this day, one of the oddball bands I really like outside of metal...I own around 10 of their albums from various eras of their sound and development; fascinating stuff!)

Blut Aus Nord - The Work Which Transforms God (I remember this finally clicking for me as I played it on repeat one vacation in 2004...definitely mindblowing)

4) Top five favorite bands at the moment?

Megadeth - always on the list. This is my favorite band ever.

Anaal Nathrakh - Awesome extreme metal. I think they get better with each release.

Drudkh - Just recently gotten into this band because of UM. I havent bought an album yet but I always buy what I like and this I like alot.

Morbid Angel - Best death metal band ever. MY favorite record is blessed are the sick.

Machine Head - I rediscovered this band a year ago or so.

5) Five albums that had a great impact on you?

Guns n' Roses - Use your illusion II - First cd I ever bought and my first ever favorite band.

Last action hero (soundtrack) - I usually dislike compilations but I got this as a kid and it made me open my eyes to alot of new bands like AC/DC, Alice in chains, Megadeth, Anthrax and Aerosmith.

Cradle of Filth - Dusk and her embrace - My first extreme metal cd. Still my fav by this band (who hasnt caught my interest since Midian).

Megadeth - countdown to extinction - Not my first Megadeth cd but the one that spawned the fan in me. I never thought this was their best one but for some reason I just went crazy after having bought this in 2001. I immediately went out and bought everythinG megadeth had done after that.

Manowar - Kings of metal - This was the cd that made me dress like a metalhead and while I had wanted long hair before (wanted to look like Axl Rose when I was younger) this probably made me start growing my hair long.

Not all of these cd's are stuff I regulary listen to but all are of great imortance to my interest in music and what band I got into and at what time etc.

6) Anything else you'd like to mention about yourself?

Besides listening to music I play bass in the death metal band Canopy. I like wrestling and mma and I read alot on religion and philosophy. Been going through a tough time lately and Im still looking for a way out of that. Got some plans so I'll see what happens.

It worked extremely well. I found most all of my favorite bands through here. Bands like Wormed, Benighted, even Devourment all personal favorites that I probably never would have found otherwise. I abused the rec forum for a while, and my intense buying session at MDF helped as well.

Well I don't know if they are my favorites... but bands I've really been digging lately would be Arghoslent; Graveland; Summoning; Reverend Bizarre and um... well that's only four isn't it? Hmmmm... next question.

5) Five albums that had a great impact on you?

Spooky Sounds of Halloween: A cheap tape I bought at Hallmark like 20 years ago. It was a sound effects tape but the opening piece of music was a fragment of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor. That got me into Bach and classical music and started my lifelong obsession with music.

Guns N' Roses- Use Your Illusion I- not only made a fanatic of this band (who I'd actually enjoyed since hearing Welcome to the Jungle years earlier) but opened up the world of heavier music to me.

Metallica- Black Album: It's what got me into metal. Nuff Said.

Cradle of Filth- Dusk... and Her Embrace: It may not be tr00 black metal but it opened the way for me to get into this genre.

Cannibal Corpse- Tomb of the Mutilated: Got me into extreme metal, specifically death metal which I had written off as noise before. Actually like some others I first heard Hammer Smashed Face through Ace Ventura. That caught my attention and so I got a friend to copy this album for me.
