It is true that we are on a downwards spiral, but just twenty years ago, Norwegians' cultural identity was much stronger than it is today, so i like to think that it is still not too late. It is quite disturbing, actually. in just fifteen years, the majority of the Norwegian youth has gone from fishing, hiking and etc, to becoming wiggers and all the crap that comes with it. It started in the late eighties I believe, with a gang called the B-gang, that was founded by pakistani immigrants. They almost single handedly made that whole gangsta thing popular in urban youth circles in Oslo.

That has nothing to do with immigrants, and everything to do with Americanisation. It is happening here too, not only with immigrants but also with whites.

I agree with you Hubster but I wish you would stop taking cheap shots at America, which has been a melting pot far longer than Australia.

I'm not trying to take cheap shots at the US mate, its not meant to come across that way...

And we have no problem being a melting pot, we embrace it, we are proud of it. Its not so much a melting pot as it is one of the few places in the world that truly supports racial equality.

Changing topics a bit... I went for a nice long walk today. A new beach, which resurfaces every 7 or so years about 20 mins walk from my house, has come back up again due to shifting sand from water currents. I took tonnes of photos, but here's a couple.

How can you know this for sure? We had television and mass media when we grew up, too, Hubster. All trends start with a few individuals.

And everyone should know that my viewpoints has nothing to do with racism, it has to with what i believe would be best for all parties involved.

This is what I'm talking about when I mean cheap shots. No one in America likes Gangsta culture either (except the ganstas I guess :)). It's just as much a problem here as in other countries and then you blame America for it.

Excellent, I was saying it was good that Australia is so diverse and accepting.

Because this is the way that it's happened in every other part of the world. Commercialization (not Americanization, Hubster) is all about how to market things to people. You let cultural influence in your country through material and ideological imports, not so much immigration. It's marketing, not a foreign plague.

Today has been one awesome day. Won my baseball game 12-0, took a few rips form teh bong, ate som burritos and hot dogs, and now kicking back and watching the Sox. Ah, relaxation.

The only other countries you can draw similarities from, is the other north-western European countries, which I'm willing to bet have had a very similar development curve. I am willing to concede that a change in politics are as much responsible, but the political debates that have led us to this point is a direct consequence of immigration.

And the fact that this has all happened in parallel is just a big coincident? I believe that the increase of immigration during the eighties forced upon our society an all too sudden change. What we are experiencing now is perhaps the result of many factors, but that immigration was a very important catalyst, I am very certain.

I am not excluding that immigration can be a very healthy and positive thing, but in the manner it is happening now, I do not believe it can be. And Norway is a small country. We have four million inhabitants. In just a few decades, muslims will outnumber us. That scares me.

My point is that this cultural integration would be coming into your country regardless through commercial routes. There's really nothing you can do about it. And what's so bad about not being the dominant race in a given area? I just don't see how that would be fear inducing. Is that going to reduce the amount of white people somehow? Or is percentage really that important?

I wouldn't presume to expect you to understand our predicament, having had the upbringing you've had, but for those of us who have cherished our society since before this recent phenomenon, it is really quite scary. It just strikes me as the most natural thing in the world that Norwegians lives in Norway and pakis in pakistan. Call it fear of change, call it racism, I really don't care; I just don't believe anything good will come out of this for anyone...

For anyone, or for the older generation? I think those who come after you will be perfectly fine with it.
