Why not have a thread where we recommend albums to each other.

*Name of album
*Description of album
*Final comments/grade it scale 1-5 or something...

Or something like that.

I would love to get some new stuff recommended by fellow Swanö fans...:)

Mercenary "The Hours That Remain"
Danish band that started out as a pretty straight-forward death metal act. Nowadays I'd like to call them melodic pop/death/thrash or something like that.
I bought this album when it came out almost a year ago and I have loved every single second of it everytime I've listened to it. I might be so bold to say that it is my absolute favorite of all albums ever!
A clear 8/8 from me.

Pathos "Katharsis"
Thrash metal(?) with a twist. Very heavy riffing, groovy drums and great vocals. Like nothing I've ever heard and a top pick in my collection.
7,5/8 (half point off for the last song/"outro")

Satariel "Hydra"
Sometimes described as slow, melodic black metal. Plain awesomeness if you ask me... Pär is a great growler and singer!

Hope you'll like some of it. Myself I'm caught in a The Project Hate-period now...:loco:

Just to get the thread going I'll add one album myself.

Blood Red Throne - Come Death [2007]

Norwegian death metal at it's best. I always thought they put out good albums. This album will not make anyone dissapointed. Straight forward death metal perfectly executed. I would consider this better than most death metal today becasue their music is far above average.

If you want a good death metal album. Try this. 3.5/5 (almost 4)

Moon Safari - A Doorway to Summer (2005)

For the symf/prog fans here.. Somehow I imagine Second Sky to have the kind of sound they captured on A Doorway to Summer. 5/5
Start with the opening track Doorway here, and then the two other:

Finsterforst - Weltenkraft (2007)

Viking metal with an accordion.

It's pretty cool if you like Finntroll, Ensiferum, Windir, etc. 4/5

If you like pop-ish heavy metal... one of my favorite bands ever is Sentenced.

Frozen, Crimson, the Cold White Light, and the Funeral Album... I think they're probably the most underrated band in heavy metal. Singer has sort of a vaguely James Hetfield voice.

Ikuinen Kaamos - The Forlorn
Fans of prog/black/death/the lot with fries/doom will enjoy this. Finnish band, only one album out so far. Take Opeth and make them more brutal. Or take Emperor and make them more laid back. Or just take the greatest music you can ever hear and call it Ikuinen Kaamos. Kinda like Crimson I without the bits that sound like Crimson II. I suggest you all get it and support this great band!

Iskald - Shades Of Misery

Very young band from Norway, I really like this first full-length. Very well played Black / Death with some Dissection similarities.

Just discovered this band a few weeks ago. Very interesting and extreme prog / black / death metal with a great singer. Great songs, great production.

Behemoth - Demigod
Behemoth - The Apostasy [2007]!
polish death metal band. (im form poland :D)

Shape Of Despair all albums. great funeral doom metal from finland.

Ozzy Osbourne - Black Rain [2007]. i think this guy has never been old. this isnt as good as Blizzard Of Ozz, No More Tears or Ozzmosis but it is still really good.

Nice music! They should find another vocalist tho.. or concider writing swedish lyrics. His mispronunciation kills the entire thing for me.

A friend recently got me on to:

Frank Marino - (1982) - Juggernaut. Canadian guy who I haven´t heard before. I would say "classic" hardrock with a touch off prog vibes here and there... *?* Anyone?

Freak Kitchen. Swedish guys where I (with not that much listen) prefer Appetizer (1994) and Move (2002) If I remember correct they will play Progpower US this autum.

hehe and off course I got my old friend into Nightingale! :) *win-win*

The new MASTER "Slaves To Society" album kicks ass as always, this is old school metal in the likes of POSSESSED just with a better (not modern) production.

I would recomend the new VOMITORY album "Terrorize, Brutalize, Sodomize" as well
