The Thread Where You Talk About Music You Like

None of those bands suck, imo.

but then again, I fall for black metal easily, most of it sounds good to me.
Hurray black metal :kickass:

That's all of the ones he listed

he listed arcturus (who arent black metal anyway but yeah)

but even if those had been all of the ones he'd listed i think maybe you wouldve been kinda dumb to point out what wouldve been a joke i guess ^_^

I find Arcturus pretty tiresome, I only have one album mind (La Masquerade..) but I never really listen to it, and even when I did I couldn't really sit through a whole album.

edit: however, LIVE, I've rarely been so utterly bowled over. Although I was relatively young and impressionble. :p

I dont mind the vocals, but Angela does a better job. Certainly Black Earth is their best though, the first song on there, Bury me and Angel, sounds identical to Carcass' Incarnated Solvent Abuse riff at 1:55. It's probably intentional though..

Angela has good rasp for a female just she does vocals over music by a band that primmed before she joined. If she did vocals on burning bridges that would have kicked ass.

Seeing as micheal was in carcass he probably steals his own riffs. How many riffs can you make. Making more than 3 albums must be a pain in the ass. That must get really crucial and demenstrate if you're actually a good musician or not.

Arcturus is one of the bands I like for its awkward uniqueness. Just the fact that it sounds so different than traditional styles I guess is what appeals to me. And of course their members are masters of their craft in terms of musicianship. I accept that the realms of the avantgarde will never be fully embraced by the general metal community, but that just makes them more special to me to keep as my own.

It's a good feeling liking some bands that most others don't like rather than restricting your horizons to the bands that everybody seems to like.

I beg to differ. Satyricon's first three albums are black metal masterpieces.

Bloody Oath!

Too bad their lsat 3 albums, more specifically their last 2 have been utter shit.

recently got serious with Zero HOur/ Ark, anyone else love these?

The latest Zero Hour cd, Specs of Pictures Burnt Beyond, is a fucking awesome cd. it's definitely my prog metal album of the year.

Xasthur's Subliminal Genocide is growing on me finally, after quite a few listens. It's pretty difficult, and probably a few songs too long, but Arcane and Misanthropic Projection is the best Xasthur song since Blood From the Roots of the Forest.

Revenant's Prophecies of a Dying World is great epic death/thrash(like a more technical Morbid Angel) and not the mindless wankfest I used to think it was.
Hmm, Seance are actually quite good, not amazing, but enjoyable.
At the Gates has finally clicked with me:The Red in the Sky is great if somewhat difficult listen.

To the guy who recommended Fleur: is it the russian band, and what's the name of the album? If you haven't found L'Orchestre Noir yet, I can upload their Eleven album(nothing better to do right now heh), if you want and send it via PM. An excellent record

Arcturus does not suck, La Masquerade Infernale is a classic(Devil Doll fan here) and The Sham Mirrors is a really fun listen, occasionally. The rest of the band's output isn't nearly as good, imo.I only liked two songs on Aspera-The Bodkin and the Quietus and the Fall of Man, the rest is meh.

im listening to camera obscura - underachievers please try harder and this is the best indie pop ive heard in a long time WOW
