I try to tell people that when they complain that it's "sellout black metal", but most of these people have never heard a note of the classic black metal albums. But I bet if the production was really shitty, more people would like it.

new satyricon is not "classic black metal" in any way, shape, or fucking form. vaguely. whatsoever. if anything it's meant to immitate 80s "proto" BM, but it just comes off as, well, a half-assed sellout when compared to how confrontational and challenging their material up to and specifically including Nemesis Divina was.

"Chimera" was alright. Somewhat of a return to a more old school sound.

it was nice to actually hear hellhammer playing extreme metal with good production for once. he rarely seems to line up the two of those in his work.
