i have to agree with our little fart-sniffing buddy that the first track on Soulside Journey is the best part of that album.

im also big on some of their later albums, especially FOAD and The Underground Resistance

A Blaze in the Northern Sky is Darkthrone's magnum opus to me at this point. Panzerfaust is close though and "Quintessence" is probably their best song overall.

i NEVER complain about production, and its NEVER a make or break for me. But damn i cant stand how high the vocals are mixed in Panzerfaust.

And yeah Blaze is their best.

I can't decide if I like A Blaze in the Northern Sky or Soulside Journey more. Probably about even for me, but unlike Soulside Journey which I do like a lot, A Blaze in the Northern Sky is top-tier even within its respective genre (and is for me the very best of the genre).

For me, it's about how fucking MEAN Blaze is and it pays so much tribute to classic Autopsy, Hellhammer, etc. Hard to find fault with it.
