The Video Game Thread

The Zodiac Spear. Square Enix thought (for some reason) that it'd be a brilliant idea to have twelve treasure chests throughout the game that shouldn't be opened. If you never opened a single one special chests (which look exactly the same as a normal one), then a certain chest later on would have the spear. If you did, you'd have to get lucky for a 1-in-100 or something drop from some random chest in a cave somehwere. Total bullshit. I tried for hours and hours and never got it. :(

Nah, those 12 chests in the necrohol of Nabudis always contain the same things no matter what - unless you have a diamond armlet equipped. The Zodiac Spear will always be the second from the left on the front row, provided you didn't open the four forbidden chests beforehand.

The four forbidden ones are the ones I was talking about. Were there only four? Really? Damn. I need to play that game again, I've forgotten like 99% of it.

Yeah, some of the emo self-pitying characters get rather annoying - it's cool for them to get down at some point after an event or whatnot, but some of them just start to piss you off (I'm looking at you, Squall!)

FFX was cool though, might have to run through that one again sometime. I implore you to give FFXII another chance though.

After reading a review and looking at FF13 I laughed and dug a grave for the FF franchise. Don't know if I'll ever return to that cemetary. If I do there will be significant positive changes to the franchise hopefully. With FF12 it seemed they took a step backward rather than forward. I hate the way they changed combat for FF12. I might enjoy playing it with a handy bottle of Jack at my side but other than that I would probably fall asleep by the uglyness and dull coloring of this game without one. FF used to be my favorite franchise and I had to see it raped and ruined just like everything in this deceiving world. End of chant.

I'll admit that everything seems to have gone downhill in the last decade. Still, some of them have been fucking brilliant - Crisis Core, Dissidia (Duodecim especially) and to some degree, FFXII have all been great. FFXIII was a rotten sack of wet dicks and FFXIV has been a monumental failure so far, so I'm holding out hope that one day - just maybe - Square Enix will stop being a bunch of fucking twats and just go back to basics. Make a good old fashioned FF game without trying to reinvent and revolutionise the system... also, make them less linear.

Well Im gonna get it. Then again, I havent completed any other final fantasy game. Bring on the stoning! hehehe
