Shit, totally forgot that i would need a receiver... which i'm guessing will set me back another $150-200.

I have a pair of these Sony speakers in the garage.

Seems like it should be fine.

What I would do is checkout your local thrift stores and craigslist and look for all vintage gear. I have some nice stuff that I came from thrift stores.

New equipment can be expensive.

If you already have a receiver for surround sound you can use it.

I stopped by one of the record shops here in Pasadena and decided to look through some vinyl and came across an orignal pressing of Dark Angels Darkness Descends for $15 and picked it up ... good move?

Yes, the Symbolic Lp was just reissued but I have had this one for some years. the Cynic LP was also just reissued.
the Leprosy LP is out of print currently.
