So I picked this up on the weekend and I loved it from the first spin. It's extremely melodic and aggresive at the same time, a combination I VERY much enjoy! The "clean" vox are also done the right way, they don't sound "wimpy" at all or create a "funny contrast", by this I mean I hate it when there are death vox and then the clean vox comes in and it just sounds silly and funny if not done right. I have no problems whatsoever with this new Shadows Fall release  have any of you picked it up yet and what is your take on it?

Unbelievable album...yes - this is an Old School forum - but Shadows Fall is truly bringing some Old School Thrash Metal back to the masses...I personally think that's a good thing. This album kicks MAJOR ass, and their previous releases are very good as well. 2 guitar attack, and these guys actually do WELL THOUGHT OUT AND APPROPRIATELY TECHNICAL SOLOS!!! The cutting edge of true American Metal in my book...

YES! This album warrants a return of the mighty Tedvanfrehley. Johnny D...you must buy this album at once. You owe me for buying Edguy...hehe...you'll love it. I really love this album. The best review I've read is the quote from Revolver that "on this album Shadows Fall RIDE THE LIGHTNING to greatness". This really does show what they can do. The two guitarists are my favorite musicians who may be younger than me...they are top notch. Excellent riffage...excellent solos...this is definitely my favorite release of 2004 now, along with Death Angel's Art Of Dying.

PS..if anyone cares...I've been away for a while dealing with a helluva spyware issue! Watch out boys and girls! Cost me $150 to get my computer cleaned up. THOSE BASTARDS!

love

Thank you my Swine-ish brother....
yeah..these guys are not nu-metal at all. In fact, if anyone's picked up the new Revolver mag with them on the cover they give a few recommendations from the 80's for the younger generations to check out...very good choices too like Tesla, GNR, Motley, and DOKKEN! DOKKEN?!?! I was surprised as hell to hear them mention Dokken but how cool is that??? These guys appreciate the art of shred!

I read that, these guys are old school at heart & who would have imagined that bands like Motley Crue, Dokken, Tesla, GNR, inspired this?
Fuck yeah! And these guys are porbably in their mid-20's?! There's still hope for the youngans!!!!!

lol ok so its on my "To Buy" List I should have it Friday or Saturday

....... Though it is hard to say whether it will be able to knock Symphorce out of my Cd player

 such a fanboy... I love it! :heh:

Wow, sweet! It's nice to see that this new band is getting such rave reviews from you guys. I must concur with what is generally being said, they definately have that old school thrash flavor and it works great!
The funny thing is a lot of the "younger crowd" don't get them and accuse them of being "nu" which is beyond me...

That's interesting... maybe it's the guitar solos what bothers them, you know 13 year olds aren't really used to them...

Well, my brother is 16 and he absolutely loves this disc! :) So I guess it doesn't apply to all youngsters. ;)

Folks around Here call Shadows Fall "The New Metallica" hahaha I think their full of shit personally but these guys have something good the singer doesnt thrill me but the guitars are great :)
Why don't you slap the next mother fucker there that says that, for me?
That's complete ignorance, you can't compare apples & oragnes.
The singer isn't the best, as a unit they kick some serious ass.

Don't hate me, but I think it's a pile of crap. :)

Next year should be awesome though: Kreator, Judas Priest, Grave Digger, Running Wild, Testament, Overkill, maybe even Dark Angel.
HAHAHAHAHA! How can we hate the UMOS resident Black Metal authority?!
The Priest is what I'm looking forward to. Should get 2005 off right!

I just can't get enough of this album...my wife and I went to Boston this past weekend, and it's about a 3-4 hour drive depending on traffic. "The War Within" did not leave the CD player, and the more I listen to it...the more I appreciate what these guys are doing for the Thrash sound that has been missing from the Metal scene lately...I can't wait to see them live - from what I hear they are extremely high energy and put on an awesome show...
