The War Within

Why don't you slap the next mother fucker there that says that, for me?
That's complete ignorance, you can't compare apples & oragnes.
The singer isn't the best, as a unit they kick some serious ass.
Will do Sir! ....hahahaha if they got rid of that risidual "metal core" sound they would be perfect and wouldnt leave my cd player hahahaha I'm sure with some time I will get used to it :loco:

Their Guitars are Just Exceptional though its what draws me to them

USMC do you like Killswitch Engage?!
I picked up their three records a couple of weeks back.
I like what they are doing. I don't know if anyone else has heard them?
I like the old school stuff, but you limit yourself to only certain bands.
Every now & then there's a band or two that get me curious & I pick up
their stuff. For example, Disturbed. A Nu-Metal, that has more Metal than their peers.
Probably the only band from that genre, that I like & listen to.
I would actually consider catching them live at some point...

I just can't get enough of this album...my wife and I went to Boston this past weekend, and it's about a 3-4 hour drive depending on traffic. "The War Within" did not leave the CD player, and the more I listen to it...the more I appreciate what these guys are doing for the Thrash sound that has been missing from the Metal scene lately...I can't wait to see them live - from what I hear they are extremely high energy and put on an awesome show...

JB
Aren't they touring with Lamb of God?

...

I got their new one the same day I purchased The War Within, although I did like the 3 tracks I have heard so far... I've been too stuck on the SF album to give them proper attention.

As to who SF are touring with... that would be Damageplan, at least for most of the tour anyway. I will be catching an SF gig myself Nov out here in LA :)

Damageplan? They should be the opening band!
I really thought their record was flat & unispiring...
I had high hopes for that record...

Yep, Damageplan are headlining...but it only shows them w/Damageplan for some dates not all. They still haven't announced who they will play with for their LA date. I never got around to checking that album out... I guess by your comments I won't be in a hurry to do so!

Guys and gals,
I've been listening to this thing a LOT this week and I just feel I need to say some more about it. I, too, did not like the vocals at first but now I love 'em. To me, Brian Fair's voice was just didn't fit the music that was coming outta the speakers. It was as if they had painted the Mona Lisa and then put a NASCAR sticker on it...it just didn't jive well for me. BUT, I tend to be this way...since I am not as into the "death/black" metal as much, a lot of times I like the music but the COOKIE MONSTER vocals kill it for me. Just my 2cents. But on this album I loved the music so much that I plowed through and now I enjoy the vocals as much as the album. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY I THINK THEY ARE THE NEW METALLICA! THERE YA GO SIXXSWINE AND JOHNNY D! I'D LIKE TO HEAR WHAT YOU BOYS SAY TO THAT! hahahaha Actually, I don't think they are the new metallica because I can't see them putting out a piece of shit like LOAD in another 10 years...hopefully the 2 young bucks on guitar won't grow tired of shredding and need a $40,000 therapist to teach them how to get along...but I degress...They rock.
Incidentally, I had this same situation happen when DIMMU BORGIR released Death Cult. I had heard so many good things that I had to check it out. Loved the music. But I would have rather done my own dental work than listen to that "singer" of theirs. BUT after many spins it grew on me and that's another favorite of mine.

So to all those who say Shadows Fall's singer sucks I say this, just give them a few more spins and once you find yourself singing the choruses to yourself in the bathroom, you 'll know you're hooked.

This is true 100% metal people. And youngun's are actually digging solos again, so then need all the help we can give 'em!

Keep America Shredding!!!

I just read in Metal Edge(review) where there's mention of Metallica.
I don't see it. I think if anything, it might be the energy they have on record.
Soundwise? People always need something to compare thing to.
Sometimes they pick unacurrate examples....
I just got a SF promo poster in the mail from Century Media along with a couple of samplers... This was part of the advance order from Tower Online...
The shit just keeps coming in!

I cought them live a while back. I also caught some Z's while they were on. Literally. They are terrible mallcore shit to the CORE.

Well, you know Dime has a signature sound? It doesn't come through on this record. I don't know what was up with him? The drumming is excellent, but that isn't gonna save a record.:tickled:

 ah well... I still get to see 'em in November, I'll let you know my final say as it will be my first time hearing anything by them at all :err:

Bah, I totally agree with you guys the new SF rocks period! Their other albums may not be as good (from what I have heard said) but they are definately headed in the right direction :)

When was this? I'll let you know what I personally think of their live shows once I see em ;)

I sure they'll dig up some Pantera stuff & have Phil "lite" sing them...

So I went to pick up tixs @ The House Of Blues on Sunset Blvd. yesterday...and Damageplan & SF are actually co-headlining, 3rd band is The Haunted (as opening band of course). This should be interesting!

I just got a The Haunted sampler, they fit will on that bill...

I've heard of them...but never actually heard anything by them... if they sound good to these ears I'll pick up their album :)
