I'm not really all that much of a Metallica fan, but they do have a couple of songs that I absolutely love. This is one of them, Creeping Death is the other.

I did go to the store to buy a brand new release this last Tuesday, but it was for the new Anthrax instead. Killer first single:

I've given it a few spins as well. Very good album. Mangini is a fantastic replacement for Portnoy.

The album does seem to be missing something... and I think it's Portnoy's amazing songwriting ability. Mangini is a great replacement on drums, but I miss Portnoy's input on the songs. You can tell that he's not there; it's kinda weird in that way.

Petrucci and Portnoy are like... the two best songwriters in the world. Now DT only has one epic songwriter, not two. LaBrie and Myung and great songwriters, too, but LaBrie rarely writes, and Myung's only written one since Scenes From a Memory.

But still, the album is awesome!

Man, this song has such a cool, menacing vibe to it. And the final solo - it sounds positively evil. They really nailed the whole creepy atmosphere thing here. Perhaps my favorite PT song.
