The Whining and Bitching Thread

My sleeping pattern is a new kind of fucked. It's not reversed. I'd love reversed. I start the day mentally restless and physically exhausted, then end the day physically restless and mentally exhausted. In between, there are transition periods of lying down and getting tiny bits of sleep while my body wants to work out, or the reverse. Bleh.

I'm sort of this way, except my brain and body are both exhausted for about half the day. You need to just suck it up and start sticking to a sleep schedule. Perhaps also lay off the drugs.

Regulating your schedule and reducing exposure to any sort of stimulants, including blue light and EMR/RF, within hours of going to bed, can help with sleep issues. Eliminating all sources of light or radiation in your bedroom when trying to sleep, plus introducing white noise like a fan helps as well.

I only sleep for a few hours at night and wake up really early. Sometimes weird shit happens to me when in bed. Not just when awake, but when asleep. I only sleep when I just can not physically be up anymore. I think this is how most people are, but IDK.

Your hair woes are only woes because you don't have real problems.

Learning that your individuality is defined by your mind's inner furnishings rather than your body's costume is a lesson that can't come quick enough. Just in general.

That's just something people tell themselves because they know they'll eventually look like shit when they get old.

As someone who is giving up on their academic life in pursuit of a more corporate life I dread the moment that I actually have to cut my hair to find a "real" job.

So do I, especially since I've seen a picture of what you look like pre-long hair, pre-facial hair.

In Maryland we just get a couple mini summers in the middle of winter. I love it. Warm weather, the air smells like fall air, and no bugs!

The way the climate is changing seems to mean that the UK, at least the south anyway, just slowly flips between Spring and Autumn, so it's hotter and wetter on average. Fuck both of those things.

Hah. Immediately after posting that I saw this.

I'm sure The Independent used to be a real newspaper.

it's about the best paper we have tbh, but i don't read any of them except the guardian for the sport. the worst ones for fake weather predictions are the express and mail, they actually got exposed as acquiring their information from a completely bogus weather forecaster not long ago. it's a pretty funny read.

i don't think there's much of a pattern to british weather over the past few years, despite what some people say. we had the worst winter in living memory three or four years ago, went down to -14 where i live at one point and there was ice on the ground for months. we also had the hottest heatwave on record in many places last year. this winter has been the warmest/windiest/wettest i've ever seen, granted, almost summer temperatures at times let alone autumn, although it's suddenly going cold now (just in time for my central heating to break, yay) so maybe it's gonna even out. i do think we get a little less snow nowadays and a little less sun in the summer compared to 20 years ago, but i might just be remembering my childhood wrong, and it just feels like there's been too many ridiculous anomalies over the past decade to make much sense out of any of it.

Yeah, there are random weeks during what's supposedly winter that resemble autumn by normal standards. It isn't a constant thing, but it equals about a month in total. I grew up in the Northeast, so I have context.
