Oh I mean, I was never told to, or made to or anything. I haven't had long hair for years and years.
Sometimes cleaning yourself up can boost confidence, of which I don't have a lot of as it is.

Well, I've never cut my hair or shaved because a job required it, but when I went two weeks without shaving recently because I was in between jobs and was on a Fallout/drinking binge, I shaved before I went to work the first day. White Uncle Tom?

Never once have I cut my hair or shaved for a job. Never been unemployed longer than a few weeks in my whole life.
Also for the longest time I worked for myself, so if you don't want outside standards to dictate your life, do good in school and then be entrepreneurial.

My hair already looks longer. Mine grows quite fast (Probably 3/4 millimeters a day). My hair had just past the long hair threshold. I probably only had an inch taken off. I'm hoping not to get one for the rest of the year, that way I can grow it as long as possible in the Summer.

Same. I rocked the jewfro all throughout high school and into college. It was getting pretty serious too. Then I buzzed my head and never turned back. Long hair, especially long curly hair, was such a pain in the ass

I feel you there. More so with the long hair, facial hair is like a second skin for me, without it I feel really strange. But a good trimming can go a long way.
