Metal is more popular in continental europe - especially Germany and scandinavia, but Britain its still massively underground and way out the mainstream. At uni so far I've met ... about 4 people with similar music tastes to mine.

ACTUALLY, funny you bring that up. I think LDOH absolutely SHOULD be on MA's listing. I think if you're goiing to have a comprehensive "metal" database like that, you need to bring in everything that falls under the metal banner, wether anyone likes it or not. That includes fail-worthy shit like LDOH, Nu-metal, glam, the whole damn shebang. I dunno what their reasoning is over there for keeping certain bands off or how they go about judging the metalness of bands, but I definitely think there's some prejudicial issues over there.

So, it's actually NOT "tools like me" keeping LDOH off that site.

Don't know about Germany, but I presume the popularity of metal is as overestimated there as it is here (any German here please fill us in), I don't really get where that rumour comes from or why it exists. From what I get on this forum people think you'll hear Judas Priest on the radio when you pop on the morning radio show on your way to work, not true in any way, what you'll hear will be Rihanna and James Blunt. And you as British should agree that North Americans who complain about bad music surroundings obviously don't know of Eurovision or how popular it is.

I watch a lot of Much Music (Canadian music TV channel)because it's the only thing on in the afternoon when I am home from class and I've found that most pop music isn't that bad if you don't look for any depth and just enjoy it. There's still some unlistenable stuff but for the most part it's alright.

Muchmusic is an awful channel. I'm not sure if they still have Muchloud on but that show used to be a decent one at one time. But one hour of actual metal per week was too much for them, they had to cut it's airtime in half. It was obviously more important to show the same episode of MuchOnDemand three times that day. But the last few times I watched Muchloud it basically catered to the screamo, metalcore, scene kids anyways...
