Polarity - Would you rather anyone wanting to become a member took an IQ test as part of the registry process and then the results sent to you for your judgement?
Does this board have a sticky thread saying "you must have perfect typing skills and a perfect grasp of english spelling and grammar"? No, it does not.
Someone wants to get into metal bands but they're a n00b and like bands that most of us think suck donkey cock but they lack supreme typing skills or forget to check their posts for correct spelling and grammer....oh god no!! damn them to hell!!
I'm all for more moderators to cope with the amount of street teamers and trolls but banning people because they haven't got a high standard of typing, grammer or spelling skills is just ridiculous. I also (although it may not sound it) sympathise with your view in a way... Yes it does get annoying when you get people typing in text talk (hello how is u 2day, i lyk metallica) but that's something we just have to live with and it's become a common way of typing in these times.
The idea of the UM boards is not to create some elitest fortress that requires exams to get into, it's a website aimed at dragging the underground, above ground so metallers around the world can discuss their favorite bands, recommendations, interesting subjects such as ideology etc...
Also I do think appointing more mods, whilst it is a very welcome idea, it could be tricky because power (yes ok it's only a forum but still..) easily corrupts and it might even go to the extreme of mods banning people because of their personal feelings. We need people who are open minded and can see all points of view within reason and when rules are broken or things get out of hand then they know how to deal with the situation maturely and responsibly.
I think I'll bring my post to an end now, I just realised how long it's dragged on
Sorry for adding a mundane pile of blabber to the thread
