Thoughts on Come Clarity

[Death Aflame]

It leaked today, and it is official.

I am about half way through the album and I am presently surprised about how much better it sounds than STYE and RtR for the most part.

I don't know how to describe the sound, it seems there are more clean vocals than StYE this time around, but they aren't completely horrible. The guitars are certainly alot more involved as is the drumming than we have seen since Clayman or maybe even Colony.

I need more time to dissect it though but I do think most fans will enjoy this, both old and new.

The beginning of the title track 'Come Clarity' is amazing. The acoustics are awesome.

The album sounds MUCH better than STYE but the damned clean vocals have Passenger written all over them.

From a first listen I like the album much better than STYE. Let's hope I'm not just too tired and am making this all up.

I definitely like this album more than STYE.
In my opinion, although maybe effects-ridden, the clean vocals are a lot better, specially on tracks like Crawl Through Knives, I love the chorus. Guitars are also good, at least compared with STYE, and there's more leads/solo activity.
Really like the female vocals on Dead End, I'd love to know who's singing on that track. The only song I don't like is Scream, just because the chorus sounds jumbled up...hard to explain...
Overall it's definitely growing on me, and I'll play it often, and definitely buy it, which is more than I can say for STYE.

I need to listen to it again but the last 3-5 songs have awesome leads and double leads and back and forth leading in them. Fuck those are nice moments.

is it just me or does it say "NOT FINAL ARTWORK" in large letters, so perhaps it won't appear as generic when it is finished as it does now. Hopefully the artwork on the inside of the booklet is better as well.

I thought that was your sig so I didn't even look at it. I sure hope that isn't the CD cover other wise it just follows in the trent of STYE and Soilwork's STD. I want something like Colony or R2R. Those covers are awesome to look at.

The first track and Come Clarity are my current favorites, but they still retain that RtR/STYE guitar sound. The clean vocal are A LOT better. I've been told that it's very melodic, but I think otherwise.

So far Vanishing Light is my favorite song, I love the intro. The guitar melodies are kicking my ass so far.
