Thoughts on Ghost

I avoided Ghost like the plague for ages but they just wouldnt stop cropping up so i checked them out a few days ago and gave the album a proper listen and its pretty enjoyable. I think i would enjoy it a lot more if it wasnt for their pretty lame image of trying to be super satanic while being such an un heavy band. All the reviews i read made them out to be a crushing doom metal band so i was put off when i first listened to it and found it to be nothing more than occult rock. Still, i enjoy it now and look forward to their next release.

I bought their album a couple of weeks ago and I really like it. The music is good. It reminds me of 70s and early 80s hard rock and metal. I would see them if they played a show here in Vegas.

I bought the album and I like it but it's too fucking short. Come on bands of the world quit creating these little 30 minute albums. At least the music is catchy with some good grooving riffs, evil lyrics, moody feel, and vocal hooks.

I guess I can see why people like this band, but I don't really dig it. This stuff sounds really cutesy to me. And what's up with the Satanic lyrics with those cute little twee vocal melodies? Is that supposed to be irony? Maybe I lack the proper background to appreciate that sort of thing. Is that supposed to be a 70s kind of thing? I don't really give a shit about the 70s.

I don't care what it is but the band has an eerie feel to the music almost an undead feel at time. This band kind of creeps people out and thats cool because the music is clever, well arranged, and rocking.

Great band so far, I'm looking forward to their next album whenever it comes out. They play a very simple style of music that's very easy to listen to.

I really wanted to like them but I think they're overhyped to hell cos the music just isn't up to scratch, it's derivative and not that atmospheric.

Thought this thread was going to be about the Devin Townsend album, which is just beautiful, amazing.

one of my friends said it sounded too "fluffy" for his liking. i can totally understand that

i for one, love them. surprised at how popular theyve gotten

I really dont like Ghost... and any time I might consider listening to them, I remember I could be listening to Hour of 13 instead.

^ That's your opinion, I think Devin Townsend sucks and is one of the most boring musicians in music.

Obviously it's my opinion. But I find it hard to believe that you can't find a single song in Devin Townsend's back catalogue that you enjoy, he has a huge variety of music and some of it is very good.
