With the latest talk about Damnation being leaked, etc. Who is one for downloading the tracks or with stands the pressure and waits for the ultimate suprise?
and who did what for the release of Deliverance?

i am going to wait for the official release...
the main reason is not the thrill or smth...it is the fact that it'S pretty annoying to download 10 minutes songs with isdn...if i had dsl i would maybe check one or two songs and then buy the release anyway!

I downloaded Deliverance and i will most likely be downloading Damnation. don't get me wrong, I love to support bands like Opeth, i have purchased Blackwater' but not Still Life. and i have various others of their songs on my HD. it's not that i don't like paying for cds, it's just because of where i live, most record stores here don't carry Music for Nations. i was lucky enough to find Arch Enemy's Wages of Sin down at the 2nd hand/alt record store downtown. that's the only place i can request and or find more 'obscure" albums. but now that Cradle of Filth is on Sony, maybe I'll have more access to them. Honestly the only way i can purchase and Opeth album is to order it or drive about 4 hours.
but next time i'm out on a trip i will be purchasing the albums. nothing better than the real thing.

I say download all the tracks. I wouldn't have bought 2 Opeth CDs if I didn't like the other album that I downloaded... which I will later buy.

If I download something and like it enough to keep it, I will buy their CD... Plain and simple.

if you know you're going to buy it, then none/some/all becomes a matter of taste. i, personally, succumb to the temptation.

if you're not sure if you want to buy it, then preview some of the tracks

if you know you're not going to get it because of geographic/etc limitations, then i can understand full album download.... with the intent to purchase it eventually.

if you download the full album just because you don't feel like paying for it, then you're a cheap bastard: suck my arschknoddle

download them alllllll!!!!!!!

i couldn't call myself a fan if i didn't try and get my hands on their new material...and i will end up buying IF i can find it here in this metal-deprived city

I have waited for Deliverance until it came out (and even three more days until it arrived), and I think I will wait for Damnation as well.
Opeth is just to special for me to download bits and pieces with an ISDN connection and thus ruining the first listen.

But it's fucking hard to wait while everybody's already talking about it.

Disrespectful as it may be, I'll be downloading it. I'll also be buying it the day it comes out, just like I did with Deliverance.

Now where's the talk going on of it leaking. If it's out there now, I want it....NOW!

downloading music is the best thing ever. without it, i wouldn't have got into great bands like opeth, maudlin of the well, anathema, dredg, katatonia, and probably others. as long as you buy the cd, and don't just dl songs cuz your cheap.

I'll download a couple tracks of bands I haven't heard of to sample them, or bands I only like moderately. But with bands like Opeth, I like to have the whole, finished product in my hand. It just spoils about 90% of the fun if you've already heard everything on a cd. And I know the cd is going to be good, so I might as well just wait for it.

Because I use internet radio as my primary sampling method, it's more a matter of willpower...If I hear new Opeth come on or something else I've been tremendously anticipating, it would take every ounce of willpower I have to turn it off. especially since I hate being teased by hearing incomplete fragments of a song.

If you want to support a band go to a show. Buy some merch. Hell, buy the cd there. One big argument I always hear about downloading music is how the band gets hurt and I understand that, but there are plenty of ways to support a band ( see previous statement). And as someone before me said, there are a lot of bands I never would have heard without the internet and the ability to download music.
