The winners from these threads will face each other head on in the final thread / showdown of semi-epic proportions.

I'll give every round a couple of days to gather enough votes before moving on to the next round. I intend to keep the voting time 5 days, but I'll extend it if needed and shorten if possible. I don't want to rush a round with insufficient votes or drag on too long when there's already a clear winner.

When voting, please keep in mind this is about the guitar tone. Some have louder guitars than others. No extreme differences though, the most extreme ones have been edited by Anssi. Some files were submitted with master bus changes. We used the submitted guitar only files and put those in the standard backing track in these cases to remove the master bus changes.

Without further delay, here are the7 contestants for round six.

This was a hard choice between NN, O and P. But I chose O because it´s not so scooped as the others but I dont like his sound with palm mutes, it´s not tight.

I've found that the better tones on this comp tend to bring out the inaccuracies of the playing simply because the tones are clearer. The appropriately balanced ones also tend to highlight the lack of overall bass in the backing track. It's a bit of a shame, but it is what it is.

Gotta go with O, with MM in a close second (I prefer the lesser amount of mud/stuffiness in MM, and thus think it actually sits better, but it's also a bit phasey and nasal, which are pretty big deal-breakers with me - also, if O were lower in volume, it'd probably fit better). I agree with Ermz though, especially about the lack of low frequencies in the bass guitar, which I commented on back in the Round 1 thread

My vote is O. It has a nice midrangey tone while sitting good in the mix with the drums.

I agree that the palm mutes in O are a bit loose, but overall it's a nice tone. +1 vote...

Voted O, didn't love it though.

- O seemed the best compromise of balance / mix fit / likeable tone. It's very defined and bright enough, but i find it too digital/POD/djenty -sounding for my tastes.
- Then were : MM (balanced but too digital-sounding for me), P (balanced but a tad too low-middy/beefy and a tad digital-sounding), and NN (nice, a tad djenty, and a tad muddy)
- Then the last 3 i dismissed at first listen : N (too-much low end/low-mids mess), OO (buried, sounds weird, not enough gain like an old Boss OD pedal on a clean channel or something) and PP (weird-sounding, way too filtered, HM-2 -like)

This and the next round are the only ones where I didn't agree on the winner. The top two sound vowely to me. Like there is a wah stuck in one position, I hate that and always try to avoid it when I mix guitars. It might sound cool at first but you can't listen to it for a long time.

N was so woofy sounding, it must have been done on really small monitors, because I don't remember hearing any other tones in the comp so far that sounded that woofy.
PP just sounds...........weird really, so many factors that I couldn't even list all of them

MM was pretty good I suppose, so I voted for that.
O was pretty good, but too loud in the mix and didn't like the tonal characteristics as much as MM.
