That album is techincally Metal. So what Metal is to you is irrelevant here.

Secondly, the thread is simply asking for top favourites. Otherwise some of these albums wouldn't even make it to my Top 1000 quality-wise (however I'd still put that album before anything by Behemoth, Beherit and some other stuff I see in this thread).

I've learnt you might only have a chance to grow a taste of your own once you stop with this faggotry that only underground is trve and just learn to fucking listen.

Fairly musically simple, but it's good as what it is:

Who said anything about only underground is trve?
There seems to be this reaction in here that, whenever someone or their taste is questioned, they whine about elitism and spew a bunch of cliché.

Nothing about that song to me was Metal, I listened to the whole thing too (with unease) and it sounded like a slightly heavier Silverchair song.

Actually it doesn't take a genius to see that the tastes on these boards are shaped by a little elitism going on. Ever wonder why some bands like Summoning, Beherit etc. get so much love around here? Or why Pantera usually gets shit on? I doubt one could be too dumb to find out.

And Silverchair? Baha! Jesus.. have you ever heard of Industrial Metal?

Having some iota of standards is all of a sudden elitism?
I really don't understand your point about The Summoning or Beherit, are you implying Pantera is a better band but people in here choose the former bands over the latter because of vnderground and trve elitism?

So to you, musical quality is not subjective and taste isn't real?

(Yes I've heard of Industrial Metal, that wasn't it.)

Wah wah elitism.

I don't see how having high standards when it comes to metal (tastes which JUST SO HAPPEN to align with many of the others here) equates to following the herd. I also fail to see how being an elitist is a bad thing.

Note: I'm not attacking your tastes, I couldn't really care less and wasn't even really following the conversation. But the notions that:
  • If someone is attacking something you dig, then obviously they're only doing it to be "underground" or to fit in
  • URGH ELITISM BAD
Are quite frankly, really fucking gay.

Pretty much.

That's a big question. Maybe you should make a thread about it and we'll discuss it there.

"Elitism" can be a bad thing in a somewhat cliquey place like this where some of these "high standards" are narrowed down to the level of vnderground and trveness of a band (which might be an arguable observation, so I shouldn't be surprised if you disagreed). Then again maybe if it wasn't for the "elitism" on these forums I wouldn't visit here so often. It makes it more fun to me for some reason and sometimes some of the more obscure stuff mentioned here and there are worth checking out. So it's both good and bad.

idk but i refuse to consider the alternative. i mean i likes me a little manson too but that last post was urgh

There's a non metal,rock,pop,etc.. discussion forum on the board where the person can talk about Marilyn Manson. It's not like no one has heard Marilyn Manson before.

Pretty much everyone calls everyone a metal elitist now, if you don't like a certain band they like. It's no longer a serious term, just a petty insult used by douchebags. I don't like Cannibal Corpse therefore I'm labeled a metal elitist. I've learned to not give a shit as it really makes no sense at all to me.
