I'd say Battles in the North is technical to an extent. So would that be later Immortal, as well?

Nemesis Divina by Satyricon is pretty technical, but would you say that it's just extreme metal with black influences?

there's a difference between "technical" refering to the complexity of the music and "tech" refering to a specific genre/style and the riffs associated with it. satyricon's riffs, no matter how complex, are generally smooth and atmospheric, never choppy or machine-like, which is what i'm talking about when i use the word.

that said, i wouldn't exactly consider Nemesis Divina to be proper black metal overall, but it has enough genuine black metal atmosphere to fit into the aesthetic parameters of the style.

The majority of black metal (or most metal) being released today is a joke. So DsO are a little higher in the shit pile. Good job.

I keep finding overlooked gems from the 80's and 90's, and I don't have time for much of this drivel of the "today".
