GREAT list man. That CG album is, more than likely, my favorite/most played album of 2007 so far. Simply crushing. Oh, hence the avatar.

I don't really get it either. They're obviously influenced by Sabbath, but they sound more like Blue Oyster Cult or early Saxon than anything else. They were more backwards looking to 70s rock/metal or focused on the then-current NWOBHM than they were building a refined Doom Metal sound from Sabbathian roots like Saint Vitus.

5. The House of Capricorn - In the Devil's Days
6. Creeping - Funeral Crawl

9. Pentagram - Last Rites

Creeping is more black than doom, but if they weren't doom at all they wouldn't have become a favourite band for me.

I sampled a few of these. Hated the drone stuff. Creeping is nothing like what I would reach for when I want Doom. But the Plastic Gods was kind of interesting and had some pretty sweet riffs.
