Top 10 rock albums (a picture thread)

God this was way way harder than I thought. Limiting myself to one album per artist, only full-lengths, and in no particular order (except the first two, which are tied for not only favorite rock albums but favorite albums period):

Titles:
1) Mr. Bungle - California
2) Pixies - Trompe Le Monde
3) Husker Du - Zen Arcade
4) Radiohead - OK Computer
5) Faith No More - Angel Dust
6) The Clash - London Calling
7) Melvins - Bullhead
8) Frank Black - Teeanger of the Year
9) Tool - Ænima
10) Joy Division - Closer

EDIT: Sorry Neutral Milk Hotel, forgot about Frank.

Excellent taste my good man. If all of Aenima was as good as half of it, I'd add it to my list but half of the album doesn't sit well with me, but the rest is impeccable. Except I haven't heard the Pixies and Frank Black... but I'll eventually fix that.

I've been looking for another list with Ok Computer... that album is god.

The Beatles - Yesterday and Today

I've noticed that no one has commented on The Afghan Whigs occupying two of my initial places...

So...

Hasn't anyone here heard them? Black Love is probably my favorite concept album of all time, but Ulver's Themes is up there too...

It's the greatest thing to come out of the grunge scene hands down. There is no contest. The Afghan Whigs created the sound that Pearl Jam played, they were grunge before the term even existed... and their post grunge offerings which started with Congregation and ended when they broke up in '99 with 1965 are 4 of the greatest rock albums of all time. Greg Dulli is a fantastic singer, bringing a huge aspect of soul and emotion to a gritty rock sound, playing the part of Lothario to bitter precision. When he screams out lines like "pretend that I can hardly wait to wipe that smile off of your face" or "when you say now we've got hell to pay, don't worry baby that's ok, i know the boss" you get the feeling that he has the unique ability to create a story and sing with enormous passion from the viewpoint of his characters. Truly fantastic.

Aenima... I don't like the atmospheric parts, I can't stand Die Eyer Von Satan or that answering machine message, and the song Third Eye really bothers me. I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting, but that's enough for now.

I can definitely understand that, and these days I occassionally feel the same way when listening to it. However Aenima is basically the album that made me a music lover. If it wasn't for that album I wouldn't be listening to any of the stuff I do now, so I have a pretty large bias towards it.

Actually I understand all of those.
Die Eier and Message seem like novelty tracks almost...and Third Eye goes on a bit too long for itself, imo.

Well, I like all of the actual songs on Aenima (including Third Eye), but at times I can get a little annoyed with the interludes (especially Message to Harry Manback and (-)Ions or whatever it's called).

It wasn't an album that got me to be such a music lover, it was a song. Pearl Jam's Yellow Ledbetter. Maybe not the best of songs, but before that I thought of music as merely background noise and after that song I thought of music as a beautiful artform that could convey emotion better than anything else around.

These are my top rock and stuff albums......

Come on man, War is better than Achtung Baby!

I would have put Depeche Mode, but I've always considered them to be synth pop and not rock.

War is good, but I think Achtung Baby is the most creative and rocking album by the band.
Heh, yea Depeche Mode aren't really rock but these are like my top 10 in everything non-metal.
If there was a top 15 or 20 I would thrown in some Police, Duran Duran, and The Cure.

#6: Rush - 2112(I wish this album was more even, it would be higher up if it was, but, the other songs are still good IMO. Just can't compare to the song 2112.)

Ok, these top 6 albums are my normal top 6, then comes metal. Now, for the rest of the rock.
