The real stand-out metal albums for me are, in no particular order:

Back In Black - AC/DC
Tribute - Oz
Made In Japan - Deep Purple
Vulgar Display of Power - Pantera

And although I'm not sure I'd call it metal as such, but the one that trumps all, for me:

Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin

back in black is horrible, but the rest are ok

Almost every AC/DC album is horrible. I can only tolerate the debut and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. For Those About to Rock as a song isn't that bad too.

I'm not gonna say Deep Purple sucks, cause they don't. Not my thing though. Ian Gillan's voice gets on my nerves.

I love Deep Purple in Rock and Machine Head just as much as Rising and Long Live Rock n Roll. Four of the best hard rock/heavy metal albums of all time right there. It'd be hard as fuck for me to rank em.

But yea Blackmore was in his prime with those two Rainbow albums imo and Dio was arguably at his best.

Buttface, how can you not like this...

.. one of the greatest vocal performances of all time. Ritchie tears it up wit one of his sickest solos, plus the late Jon Lords beautiful keys. Fuucccck i just love it!

edit: Also they're not that similar outside of Blackmore being in both bands. So morts retarded ass "i'd rather listen to" doesn't even really make any fucking sense. Without Deep Purple, there wouldn't be Rainbow.

Deep Purple are like Motörhead to me. In understand they're important but I just don't like them much.

Rising = DP in Rock > Machine Head > Long Live Rock n Roll > Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow > Fireball = Perfect Strangers

Plenty of other DP albums i could have thrown in there but it wouldn't be fair to Rainbow since the rest of their material has been pretty forgettable and doesnt even deserve to be mentioned here.

Those DP albums are overall better from top to bottom than the Rainbow albums.

Very hard to make a list. Might add to this later.
