I'll go out on a limb and say Godsmack and Disturbed because too many people think that their shitty music is metal.
Not a bad article at all. They're focusing on the iceberg tip of metal -- the stuff that breaks onto radio and TV and all that. Maybe I'm jaded but I think it's a given that most of that stuff will be bad. My list of bands that ruined metal would focus on the bands that ruined 'good metal.'
Near the top of my list would be Emperor. Good band but if you hate Dimmu and Cradle of Filth, you can thank Emperor for that. Black metal was all stripped back and esoteric (in the best way possible) until Emperor came along and decided it should have beefy typical metal riffs and epic rah rah orchestras. They did it well enough but it was a recipe for the destruction of Black Metal's best aspects.
ACTUALLY black metal pretty much died once kerrang did that exposé on the big 3
I stopped reading the article after seeing Black Sabbath on the #1 spot..wtf?
That didn't really have much to do with Black Metal's sound. I don't care how popular it is or how many of its great artists are in jail, it still has the potential to stay good.

What a terrible, pointless article. So Nine Inch Nails helped to ruin metal because their non-metal music may have influenced other non-metal bands. :zombie:
Seriously, what's the point in trying to place blame on bands who may or may not have influenced bands whom you don't like? I don't know why people are fascinated and fixated with bands they don't like...
