Top ten bands that ruined metal in your opinion

The way I understood it was a reverse psychology kind of thing and it amounts to no more than a most important bands in metal. So it hits on bands that made a contribution in the various directions metal took.

That has got to be the most illogical shit I've ever heard of..so because Black Sabbath was such an influential band and pretty much starting metal (not according to JGMetalhead though), it is now blamed as the #1 band in the entire world that has RUINED metal? Only because out of the thousands of bands they have inspired, some of them happened to suck?

I believe the Sabbath thing was a snarky joke on their part.

I'll give you guys the Burzum thing. I can only assume that wastes of skin like Thurston Moore wouldn't listen to black metal if Burzum never existed. But to the person who said there are a lot of bands that sound like Burzum... there are plenty of bands that try to copy Burzum, but are there bands that literally sound like Burzum? Because I'd love to hear some of those bands.

Niyazov, I think their Pantera article was extremely flattering towards Pantera. The one thing they said which I am skeptical of is the idea that metal was jock-free pre-Pantera. A nice thought, however... I'm pretty sure the existence of popular thrash metal and glam metal made certain there were jocks in metal before Pantera came along.

Def Lepperd
Van Halen
Alice Cooper
Twisted Sister
Pantera
Scorpions
Whitesnake
Quiet Riot
Motley Crue
Poison
Cinderella
Ratt
David Lee Roth
Nitro

I dont care much for Pantera or Van Halen, but many of the rest of them are real awsome heavy metal. Eat shit.

On topic: metalsucks.net is the real ruiner of metal, fuck off!

clearly everyone is seeming to have comprehension issues regarding what the guy wrote. Must be the title just fucks with their heads too much.

Sabbath did NOT create metal
all bands on that list ARE metal
all bands on that list have importance to metal

I do find it interesting that not a single NWOBHM band is on it though or did I forget already

Agreed with Pantera and Metallica (the latter was always the radio-friendly branch of thrash)

At the gates dumbed down the whole melodeath with Slaughter, In Flames did it too. It's not Emperor's fault that Dimmu simplified the formula and made it what it is now. Cradle of Filth is soo much guilty than Burzum IMO for bringing/breeding poseurs (at least Burzum released groundbreaking material enough to say that it benefits metal more than ruins it)Why don't blame more to Nargaroth? Kanwulf is a Trve poseur and created BMIK. That album alone made too many dumbasses listen BM and considering that all 'its krieg'(damn, there are just 2 really good tracks on it). His whole story about being on Helvete with euronymous, knowing Varg and all that shit is laughable and totally stupid.

Was not in specific reference to the artical and Sabbath did not invent metal either, they are however important

The percentage of good bands to bad ones, and the trends for good attributes versus bad ones.

I'd agree with this but not necessarily that bands are bad, just that metal has gone through its best period, along time ago in my opinion and many new things metal are grasping at straws.

ACTUALLY black metal pretty much died once kerrang did that exposé on the big 3

edit: in liek '94 or something. other countries got wind of the scene and decided 2 modify the BM formula 2 suit their own ends and consequently watered the genre down into a cesspool of suicidal basement poetry + 4 track recorders

Yes, because every single black metal band since '94 wrote minimalistic black metal about urban squalor, individual angst and suicidal tendencies.

I'm sure most people have already come to this conclusion, but you're a retard.

Go Jarman, not sure its worth it but remember to keep it short please... for obvious reasons

 No you didn't, holy shit. You don't even know what you said...

do you just take every sentence you read here at complete face value? are u really so maladjusted as to not be able to recognise blatant exaggeration?

u realise i myself have posted multiple links in teh BM thread alone which contradict my last post lol.

Is this the exaggeration you mean? That's fine; even so, this exaggeration implies that you think most (not all, but most) black metal music since '94 is a poor mimicry of its predecessors. I intend to point out that you're casting far too much black metal into a narrow, close-minded category. Your description does not, by any means, suit the majority of black metal being written today. Therefore your exaggeration, which was intended to make a point (even if it wasn't entirely serious), is a valid contender for my contestation.

You've been here what; two days?
