In no particular order (although TGCD is of course number one):

Katatonia - The Great Cold Distance
Amorphis - Eclipse
Novembre - Materia
In Flames - Come Clarity
Daylight Dies - Dismantling Devotions
The Gathering - Home
Placebo - Meds
Shamrain - Deeper Into the Night (mcd)
Moonspell - Memorial

Insomnium - Above the Weeping World

Bought the album couple of days back and it's been spinning almost non-stop ever since. I loved their previous albums but this one is simply brilliant.

sorry... but why make a top ten for the year in september? useless.
Your top 10 until now (September).. which will definitely be subject to change, cause the year ain't out yet, but enough albums have been released so far to be able to mention a few faves...

ALLES KLAHR??! :err:

;)

I explained that in the initial post.

...I am curious to know what people have found as their favorites from this year so far. There are still plenty of albums to be released this year, and it may be interesting to see how much the lists can change from September to the year's end.
Also, I thought it wouldn't be bad to have some additional discussion here.

I feel that the purpose of the thread has been achieved and worthwhile, and I hope others feel the same.

Also, September is coming to a close, and I think this thread should do the same after today. And then perhaps we can see what happens after the year's end.

Thanks for posting your lists and for the discussion everyone. Cheers.

I thought Dirty thoughts is quite lovely...but it's too much of a Paradise Lost copycat

Possible that we talk about different bands? Bcause Lacrimas Profundere is the total 69 Eyes ripoff...no PL there ^^

There's only one Lacrimas Profundere as far as I know
and I kinda mixed up the name...it's not dirty thoughts,It's Filthy notes...my memory is playing tricks on me...but just to be sure we're talking about the same band it's a German band...they released this year a new album called
"Filthy Notes For Frozen Hearts" and a single/ep by the name of "again it's over"...in 2004 they released an album called Ave End.
now I don't know 69 Eyes so I can't say if they ripped them off but almost the whole album sounds like PL's "Soul Couragious" song. same style, same low male vocs with the addition of some female vocs

nevertheless I like this album...it's catchy and pleasent...
