When it comes to the Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Fear, Black Flag, and the Circle Jerks, it's hard for me to see those bands as anything but punk with hardcore songs sometimes. Black Flag may be even more problematic to classify because of how experimental they got from their debut on.
Of course I'm massively nitpicking and have no problem including those bands in the hardcore pantheon anyway. Mostly saying that because along with discovering Negative Approach for the first time, this EP made me go "ok this is exactly what I was looking for."
