TV Shows

Lol you should probably edit in some Spoiler Warnings, J was planning on watching this. But yeah I agree with pretty much all of that, the only difference being that I'm surprised you were still fully able to enjoy it when you gave up on all the investigative stuff (as did I).

Your argument that I like Vikings is an ad hominem and has no bearing on TD S2 being the drizzling shits. I don't fault ye for it, as Vikings is alpha as fuck, and you're quite the fair effeminate lass that would fit right alongside Ms. Winnick. Women and cucks just dont appreciate shows and movies such as Vikings, Spartacus, 300, what have ye. These are shows to eat a tbone steak to, not be blown away by terrific storytelling. Just give me some good dialogue and I can suspend belief and forego any little nuances that would put such a show under a microscope.

True Detective on the other hand is all storytelling. Which season 2 executes about as poorly as Profanity making conversation on an across town bus ride. I truly didnt give a shit about any of the characters back stories after 4 episodes. Cunt whore has parental issues, faggy mcfaggy CHP pretty boy's latent homosexuality, Vaughn not being able to squirt sperm into his wife's ovaries, Farrell was "ok," but needed to be sacrificed like a lamb to add any depth to the overall story arch. The drizzling god damn shits. Give me Woody! Give me Daddario's tits!

Spartacus and Vikings were/are great stuff. Yall need to check out Black Sails. Like now

Rome was OK. Seemed really rushed towards the end.

GoT is so goddamn overhyped. It's really not all that great and I cannot figure out why is holds such fascination over people. It's a soap opera in a medieval setting with dragons and magic and ice zombies. Very little action, not near as much sex as they would have you believe (Spartacus has it beat by a mile schlong), and some ridiculous storylines.

You said you hated it when you saw that gangbang scene, I'm telling you that Vikings has tons of those and in difference of TD2 they're just there for the sake of horniness rather than actual story.
And don't give me that sexist bs, Jerry, I loved 300! I find it extremely cheesy but I truly enjoy it (and maybe even shed a tear in the end ).

Guess I don't always need a story twists to entertain me as I find analyzing characters not less entertaining. But again - depends on the show.

Oh... Now it all makes sense, cuz usually the gangbang scene wouldn't be the one that determines a show as a pile of crap for you :D
Aaaaand my mind is too dirty to not make that misreading mistake.

But ofc, if you only like GoT and Transformers
how dare you, madam?! GoT may not be the Shakespearean brilliance the super fans want to pretend it is, but to compare it to the ultimate braindead, shit garbage, lowest common denominator, bottom of the barrel, 12 year old boy fantasy, motion sickness, CGI fuckfest of those horrific Transformers films, is just way out of line!

unless of course you are referring to the excellent 1986 animated feature, in which case i wholeheartedly agree!

Aww chill darling.
GoT is great. I just meant that in most of cases you don't need to think hard there as the story is usually pretty clear and it's always followed by awesome visuals.

If you compare it to most other shows, GOT is actually pretty complex, what with the number of characters, the extensive back story and mythology. It's a testimony to how well put together it is that it's never confusing.

It is. I don't argue with that. Just like I said its pretty simple and flat and usually you don't need to think hard about hidden meanings, parallels or other stuff that most of of arthouse underground movies have for example. Doesn't mean it's bad, I like GoT myself.

Interestingly I had a discussion with a couple of people in the pub about GOT earlier, one of whom had read all the books, and neither of them had actually fully understood the ending to the most recent season. So it's more convoluted than you might think.

I guess you're right that it isn't exactly high art though, but then how many TV shows are?

Well I'm not sure if it tells the depth of the a show when people dont understand it.

And my point wasn't to blame GoT in being shallow rather than blame people that when they see something a little bit more complicated than a clear plot and attractive visuals - they get annoyed and lazy.

No, complexity and depth are different things, I take and took your point.

And GOT thrones isn't shallow, I agree. It has well crafted, distinctive characters and smart scripting - for the most part. It doesn't have depth in the sense of social criticism or penetrating psychological insight, or whatever, but that comes with the genre. The LOTR novels have neither of those qualities, but are still considered literature. They're certainly not shallow.

What would you recommend as good TV that you think is "a little bit more complicated than a clear plot and attractive visuals" but with which people have become bored?
