Doom On!
I think Katatonia have only played the following 2 festivals in the US:
- Milwaukee Metalfest
- BWBK Fest in Cleveland

For 2 reasons....firstly, as you said..H is the sole Emerald guy right now ad he is pretty much only interested in death metal, but he does take on other things from time to time, like Fozzy last week.
Secondly, now that they have hooked up with The Agency Group for their bookings...mmm...well, let's just say that after several very successful shows that we booked through them (Opeth/Kat in 2001, Haunted, Opeth in 2003, Entombed in 2004) they seem to no longer regard Ireland as being viable...or maybe Emerald as being viable. I dunno
I'm the 'other half' of Emerald Promotions btw...I was the one who booked Katatonia for Dublin (1996, 2001, 2003). I woship the band...always have, but I have been living in Oslo for 2 years and aint coming back just yet. Needless to say that when I do (or, if I do) you'll see more diversity in what is booked...however, for the moment.........
It suxxxx, cos Katatonia are godz....but, who knows??????????
jptk said:Its a pity, there hasnt been much if any doom or dark metal in Ireland for a long time (excluding are own home grown bands)
But then again if H wasnt around there would be no metal gigs at all.
I was at the last Katatonia gig in Ireland and it was one of the best gigs I have ever been to.
Well, if you decide to come back you will be very welcomed! If not, sure Britain isnt too far away
Yes. They have played only two shows in the United States so far, unfortunately.Jasonic said:I think Katatonia have only played the following 2 festivals in the US:

Such a tour would indeed be great. It also sounds like a realistic and balanced idea.Jinn said:OK, so it's settled. We need to beg for Katatonia and Agalloch to tour America!!
Lets not forget England people!!!Such a tour would indeed be great. It also sounds like a realistic and balanced idea.

As I have gathered from interviews (here) and from speaking with the band personally, at this point it's more that they have a limited amount of time (because of other obligations), and one of their members lives relatively far from the others (which makes rehearsing difficult). They do hope to play some live shows after they complete the album they are working on, though.Eric Paradox said:except for the fact that Agalloch has probably played all of about 3-4 shows ever.. they've said themselves that they don't like playing live shows and therefore never tour. but if someone here has actually heard from the band themselves that they're very interested in this... holy shit.

Cis said:Anathema... have made some good albums, have played some good gigs but their gigs in the last couple of years have become more and more disappointing, I'd say they are not good enough (anymore) to deserve a tour with Katatonia. On the other hand, they wouldn't be the first lower- quality- Katatonia- support- band, so why not, one good thing would be that I wouldn't have to worry about being late at a show... though I prefer to be there in time and see a good suppport act...
I hope I didn't hurt any Anathema fans now, well actually, they are not that bad but they have been better.
jptk said:well in fairness to the anathema lads, there music is very different from Katatonia so I dont think they should be reffered to like this "lower-quality-katatonia-support-band"
