unpopular albums that you really like

Arcturus - Sideshow Symphonies (pretty much the only Arcturus I care about)

Whaaat? It's a great album but for sure their weakest. I don't understand how you don't care for their earlier albums.

Regarding Metallica:

I would say that the Black album is their most popular release. Many early fans like it, and many newer fans like it. Yes it is disliked by the insignificant "true metal" crowd, but that's a small percentage.

I can speak to the Justice thing a little bit. Yes, it is among their heavier releases. When considering Metallica's metal years, I would definitely include it. But as a long time fan of Metallica before it came out, it just didn't do for me what the earlier stuff did. I have never submerssed myself in it or analyzed it much, but for whatever reason, I don't think it's that great. Part of it was the weird-ass production. It just sounds weird and kinda lame to some degree. I have felt this way since it came out. Back then there was no automatic hate toward Metallica.

Thanks for the comments. Good points, man. Even as a fan of Justice, I can relate to what you're saying about it. The first time I listened to it I was saying to myself "this is... very weird... there's something off about it." Though I like things that are off sometimes...

Decapitated - Nihility

I got this January with Malevolent Creation's The Ten Commandments. Good album but forgot to listen to it mroe often. I like the whole Decapitated catalogue, I should listen to Nihility more often! Sometimes you forget especially, if you buy album regularly.

I really like 90% of all Boris' records. They are unpopular has they are pretty unknown. Amazing band.

Trust is my favorite Megadeth song. That track is a fucking monster.

I think my favorites off of that album are Almost Honest and A Secret Place. Trust is definitely a good one, though.

Celtic Frost - Monotheist

I honestly think that's Celtic Frost's best album - at least in terms of songwriting. Obviously it's not as groundbreaking as the older ones.
