unpopular albums that you really like

Judas Priest - Turbo
Pantera - Projects In The Jungle and I am The Night
Lamb Of God - Sacrament
Bon Jovi - first three albums
Cinderella - Night Songs
Warrant - Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich & Cherry Pie

Blackwater Park and Opeth in general gets a lot of hate from people and I love that album.

@Undying Darkness, since when was Augury unpopular?

St. Anger definitely has some good songs, though not many. Besides "Frantic", "Dirty Window", and the title track, I thought the rest of the album was boring as shit.

I liked everything CoB did up to Follow the Reaper - they seemed to get a lot less melodic/catchy after that.

No one seems to mention Danzig here, so I might as well add that I like a lot of their stuff - mainly Lucifuge and I Luciferi. I'd say I Luciferi is probably the darkest, most satanic music I've ever heard that doesn't resort to the extremes of death/black metal, and that's quite an accomplishment IMO.

I've also noticed that my favorite Celtic Frost albums aren't the ones from their 'classic' period (which I mostly find pretty boring), but rather their last two - Vanity/Nemesis and Monotheist.

Other 'unpopular' albums I like:
* Arcturus's Sideshow Symphonies - by far my favorite one they've done.
* Black Sabbath's Seventh Star - most people wouldn't bother with Sabbath's later career, but this album has some damn cool songs in it. The title track is fucking epic.
* Wolfmother's debut album. :kickass:

Oh, and just to change things up a bit: I hear tons of praise for Iron Maiden's Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, but I really don't see what's so great about that album. Too many nauseatingly-repetitive choruses, for one thing. :yuk:

If you don't like the title track of that album then I will hate you forever.

Blackwater Park is fucking sweet. As for all the people who hate Opeth, I've never heard any real arguments behind those opinions. It seems like people are just annoyed with Opeth's popularity.

 Better start hating me then.

To be fair, I've only listened to the whole album once, so I'm being a little narrow-minded. I just remember there being lots of annoying repetition in the lyrics.

I think you would hate the title track then. The chorus basically repeats the phrase "seventh son of a seventh son" over and over. But it's a really cool and epic song imo. In fact, it's one of my favorite Iron Maiden songs. I don't think the album is flawless though. I hate the song "Can I Play With Madness?"

 Okay, then I remembered it correctly. I don't doubt that the rest of the song kicks ass, but repetitive lyrics really, really annoy the fuck out of me. I might give it another try at some point, but I'm not in any hurry.

Hope I'm still on your good side, Cyth. :)

Of course you're still on my good side. I was just joking before. You're actually one of my favorite people around this joint. Ok, I'm gonna stop being gay now and go get myself a beer.
