VCC Released

Here's my report...

I didn't beta test. I didn't wanna get into all the hype. I just wanted the final "working" version and be done with it. So my impressions are coming from the latest VCC update. I didn't install VCC until my ILok2 came.

I'm running Cubase 6 on a Quadcore intel. I have no issues with CPU what so ever. I think I should have no problem throwing VCC on as many channels as I can and not run into any issues. After applying it to some of my older mixes, I came to the same conclusion Steve said earlier. Leave the knobs alone. In my opinion, the VCC sounds great. It's going to be difficult to think of mixing in the box without it. I think they have really nailed the VCC. It does exactly what it's suppose to and more. I hope they continue to develop the FG-X in comparison to the VCC, I feel the FG-X could use improvement and optimization. Way to go Steve!

I for one, can't wait to see what else Steve & Fabrice have up their sleeves.

A bit of gain on VCC on guitars can be awesome though..

I can see those gain knobs being overused easily, because the VCC can easily be seen as an automatic improvement plug in. Throw it on and everything magically sounds a littler nicer. Hey! Why don't we just crank the hell out of the gain knobs and make everything sound that much better! The VCC allows unrealistic desk saturation with those knobs. It's nice to have it if you really need it, but I wouldn't use extra gain on everything. I've already read on a few discussion forums users suggesting #6 gain on everything. UGH!

Got my ilok today, gonna give VCC a test run in the morning.

Edit: Insomnia got the better of me, done a quick test run slapping it across a quick song demo I recorded a few weeks ago and I'm really liking this!
Neve console sounds amazing, though for me it seems to be significantly louder than the other consoles (maybe it's just because it beefs up the low end more and my bass and kick are too loud?) Trident is really nice for guitars. Only did a quick test of the API but it has the whole "clear bright and lean" sound down to a T.

Hehich is which :/

Is anyone having a problem with vcc actually causing freezing during playback. The song continues to play, but it seems like the whole program has frozen (unable to move the mouse, stop playback etc), this happens like every hour or so and I have to wait for it to return to normal again. After say 10 sceonds it returns to normal, may be a PACE problem, but only noticed this happening during long hours in the studio with VCC, never happened when it was ilok1.

I get the same.
Also if I close the plugin windows by clicking on the X it freezes for a little while.

So annoying.

Guess its best to submit it to the support as it may be a general problem.

Yep to the "project stalling" issue. I updated my ilok drivers at the same time so I don't know if it's VCC or those that are causing the issues. Haven't had the chance or the time to work on another project without VCC for long enough to narrow it down.

Suppose I should get around to creating a ticket but I'll probably just end up waiting for someone else to.
