VCC Released

I have a dual core computer, 4 gig of ram etc..... running mix buss on master, drums, toms, overheads, guitar, vocals, bass busses + channel strips on guitars, vocals, bass, and most of the drums. On top of that I have a shit load of other plugs, and it is running about 80%. Very usuable, but still cpu hungry. Remember I only have offline oversampling, if I put online oversampling on I can not have that many instances. The guys over at gearslutz have oversampling on to the max I assume (cause their computers are way better than mine and they can only get a few instances running). It is cpu hungry but nothing like the waves art saturation plug:)

There´s like 3 or 4 threads of this plugin and no one has been able to answer what the CPU usage of this plugin is. I know it depends on what computer you have and all, but we need to get an idea. Just say it gets as much CPU as the Waves C4, or the L2, or the EQ7 or something we can relate it to.

You wouldn't be able to use it on a dual core without bouncing a shitload of tracks. It almost cripples my computer when im in full mix mode (in the end of a mix) Im on a quad, 4gig ram. And then we talk about a mix with about 48tracks (with busses included) so it is a CPU hog.

But if Slate decided to release a audiosuite plugin for it i see no problems with bouncing the tracks when I have decided which settings to use.

Well I have dual core and don't bounce anything down, but I have oversampling off. I run sonar, my computer is overclocked, 4 gig of ram and nothing on my computer except for DAW and plugiins + burning software.

I'm on a Phenom II X4 and have no problems with for example 80 Tracks inclusive a few Mix Busses for groups and I can even enable FG:X(but the PC is on 1024 and very very busy).
I don't thing VCC is a CPU hog, I would compare it to a REQ maybe.

Mac Pro 2 x 2.6GHz Quad Core here with 8GB of Ram, PT9 10.6.4. I was running a 64 channel mix today with VCC on every channel and group and the mix bus, and well with no over sampling playback was getting rough at 1024 buffer in ProTools. What I've been doing now though is only running it on sub-groups. For example I had 4 separate tracks of kick and instead of having VCC on all of those tracks and the sub group, I simply had it on the sub-group. This worked a lot better obviously as I had roughly 1/3 of the instances. Its cool routing this way because your channel faders work as your input for VCC hence raising the faders to push the plug-in harder.

It is a CPU hog, but its not absolutely horrible, uses less than an instance of the CLA comps on my machine. I'm really keen for a CPU reduction though!

Haha, VCC crashed my computer when I set it to 8x oversampling in realtime. I don't care about the offline-render mode, because I have to export in realtime due to outboard gear beeing used. So hopefully it gets better with the update... at least a bit :)

The new update posted today 1.06 might have CPU optimizations.. if not the next update will definitely make sure it is the same as the 2.5 beta version.

So cmon dudes.. post some before and after mixes I wanna hear some METAL. Also, submit 16/24bit 44.1hz wav file links (via yousendit or dropbox) to vccdemo@stevenslate.com.. please label as Song_MIX.wav, Song_Brit4k.wav, etc..

im running about 60 tracks with vcc, and it really slows down my new i7 2600k, 16gb ram system...
seems like the beta was way less cpu hungry.
gonna try the new 1.06 out. i hope the future versions will be at least beta hungry...

if the 1.06 doesn't take care of the CPU, then the 1.07 will.. try it and report back.

Is it bad to bounce the tracks with the plugin on it? I guess the virtual mixbus plugins are affected by how hard you drive them with the incoming signal etc, so that wouldn't be a good idea, but would it change anything if I bounced the tracks with the virtual channel on it, too?

no that would be fine.. you can freeze/render the tracks with the channel on them, then just mix into the mixbuss plugin

Hey Steven could u answer these questions
Now for guys with less then stellar PC's ...What would be the best way to implement VCC? Most importantly would be to use the MixBuss on the master fader correct? and then any channels your PC can afford to use? Or do you really only get the full effect of the VCC if you have it on every single channel ? what about when you got 2 rhythm guitars going to a group....do I use VCC channel on each guitar channel or use the VCC Mixbuss on the group? or is the Mixbuss just intended for the master fader?.....I will prolly try all these ways just thought i would ask while i wait for my Ilok2 to arrive...can't wait to use this

Yeh thats another question in Cubase you can freeze tracks or like the dude above said would it benefit from just bouncing the track down with VCC?

Shit SlATE you beat me to it....Cool yeh if i could render or freeze shit this might work out

just managed to download the plugin but my ilok2 sure will take some time to arrive,
call me stupid but..will VCC work with a normal standar dold ilok? i think i've read somehwere
that VCC will work on an ilok2 only but i'm not sure about that and too much pussy to try it out by myself

is it possible to render the plugins directly into the track?
i do not mean exporting it, more something like right clicon the track,
plugins, VCC and render it works that way in cubase with other plugins.
i tried it once with FG-X once and it didn't work, crashed cubase

i think thix could be a nice "feature" as VCC seems to be a apply,
set and go plugin without much tweaking.

cheers
S.

Nah you need ilok2 dude.

I think it said it would take 8-10 days to arrive, but that might be for the US rather than Europe.

Steven, how long should shipping of the ilok's take for us Europeans?
