Whilea lot of you were having a blast on PP Hawk and his wive came to visit my place. They arrived Friday night, straight from a Nevermore concert in Holland bringing some pretty cold weather with them from the North (when they entered it was allmost freezing...brrrrr, winter's coming again :-(... As they were pretty tired we didn't stay up too late. Saturday morning Hawk was friendly woken up by my neighbour, who has is building a new house and decide to wake the Hawk with some drilling...no guns in my house, sorry Hawk :-)
Saturday we had time for alot of talking and watching some DVD's Hawk brought me (thanx again bro, great stuff!!), and watching some of the old vids I found, offcourse with Hawk's awesome 80's footage... Later the afternoon we had some Belgian Fries (dare not to mention "French" fries again !!) and around 6 we left of to see Nevermore in Antwerp, Belgium. We left off pretty early not to miss Mercenary , becouse Hawk and Petri missed them the day before. And hell, was a good thing we were on time !! Mercenary put up a GREAT show, they are a superb live band of with the very good vocalist and guitar player jump out. sound was very good, this venue is especially made for music concerts and that's really a difference for your average sounding backstreet club ! Next up were Dew Scented, a German thrash band. They didn't move me very much, mostly becouse of the not so good vocals, often leaning towards death metal a bit...Than Nevermore...what to say? This was amongst the best live gigs I ever saw. Very heavy music, but still there's alot of "prog" in their performance. I especially took notice of the drummer, he's amazing! I'm sure Hawk will give a full revieuw somewhere here of his favorit band...
When we returned to my place we spent some extra houres chatting before going to bed. Sunday we invited Hawk and Petri to a local meeting for American cars. Weather was very, very good and so there was alot to see, surely Hawk and Petri loved it !!! As Petri is getting her motorcycle license she had a special eye for all those great bikes and dragbikes!!
Well, it was time for a lesser favorite hobby of me, taking picture :-)
Thanx to my buddy Steven for taking some nice pics...enjoy !!

Grimm but trOO , or how was it :-)...from L to R Carnut, Petri (Hawk's wive), Patricia (me lady) and Hawk on the right.

Most awsome pics! Carnut I never imagined you looking like that, most excelent pics with the ladies, fantastic bunch of rockers.

I'm very glad you have such a blast and good time, may many more will come.

Cheers

Thanks for posting those Bro'! You rock man

Ok I am gonna try to write a detailed report. We left for Tilburg quite late actually. It must have been around 4 PM. When we got at the place I was dismayed to learn that Mercenary already had played their set.

So next up was Dew Scented who I really like, although I think the vocals of Leif Jensen could use more variation. They tend to sound a bit the same after a while. The music is excellent however. They played a real tight set with very good sound. Loud but very bright. After a intermission it was time for NeverMore and the sound was shit! During the first few songs I could not hear any vocals. Later it became better. It also looked as if Jeff Loomis was playing all the leads. I had the impression that his guitar was louder than Steve's.

The setlist was great and Warrel was spot on every fucking note!! My god does that Loomis dude shred like a motherfuck or what?? :worship: They were all over the stage and simply RULED!! When they played "Seven tongues of God" its was like being hit by a steamhammer!! So HEAVY!! Van the Man is THE MAN!!

Too bad they did not play "The Learning" I heard they played it in Haarlem. During the last two songs the volume got even louder now you could not hear any nuances when they played "This Godless Endavour". Talk about distortion. And to think that I saw Kreator in the same place with really perfect sound!!

After the gig we drove into Belgium and strait to carnuts place thanks to the excellent instructions he gave us. Thanks buddy!!

It was around 1:00 or 2:00 AM and bloody cold when we entered his house. We chatted for a while and went to sleep. As usual I do not sleep very well in a place that I am not used to. It must have been 3:30 AM when I fell asleep...

...only to awaken to the sound of a drill at 8:45 AM because carnut's neighbor decided he had to do some work on Saturday morning!!!!

I went downstairs and upon seeing Patricia [carnut's wife] I did not greet her at all. I just said: "you have a gun here?" Why? She asked.

Because I want to shoot someone!!!

Well I mellowed later on and it turned out that Petri [my wife] had slept alright. After breakfast we chatted the rest of the day and gave me a few presents. "A History of Time to Come" from Sabbat, The "Thrash to the Bone" demo from Belgian super band Viggen and a few magazines.

We brought him 4 DVD's

Iron Maiden live in Sweden 2005 [a performance broadcasted on Swedish TV]
Deep Purple Live 72/73,
Rainbow live at RockPalast 1977
This Lizzy Live and Dangerous 1978

Its incredible how fast the day goes by when you are watching DVD's play some new albums and are just talking with each other. Round 5:00 PM we left for Antwerp and this time we were on time to see Mercenary. Man what a great live band that is. Way better than on their records. I must spin that cd a bit more than I have done the last few months! I was very impressed by their passionate performance. I would love too see them again. And the sound was great!!

Next up Dew Scented. Great live band they just go for it. Again after 20 minutes or so I got bored by the limited range of the singers voice. Still their music kicks ass! And somehow I think they sound a bit better on cd.

Before we knew it NeverMore took the stage with "Born" and a perfect sound! See? It can be done!! :p Warrel was even better than in Tilburg and we met a few people we'd seen the evening before in Tilburg. Among them a German lady "Twisted Sister" who followed the band through Tilburg, Antwerp, Haarlem and Bochum. The Belgium crows responded much better to NeverMore than the audience the night before in Tilburg. NeverMore really dominated that place  Great performances of:

Narcosynthesis
The River Dragon Has Come
The Heart Collector
Beyond Within
Dreaming Neon Black
The Seven Tongues Of God
This Sacrament
Enemies Of Reality
Sound of Silence
Never Purify
Born
Final Product
My Acid Words
Bittersweet Feast
Sentient 6
Sell My Heart for Stones
The Psalm of Lydia
This Godless Endeavour

The only track missing was "The Learning". Damn!! :(

At the very end of the gig that nitwit of a "sound man" decided to turn up the volume again destroying the last two songs of the set ; "This Godless Endeavour" and Enemies of Reality" But still we had a great time. Petri bought me a NeverMore hoodie so I can be a 46 year old NeveMore fanboy!! I also got me the new Symphorce album with the DVD!!

After spending our money it was time to go back home to Carnut's were we enjoyed a goodnights sleep because we were dead tired!!

Soooo next day we were ready for the US car meeting. After an amusing breakfast carnut took out his American classic out of the garage! It was a total kick to drive in that wonderful automobile. The meeting took place at a big field were people had parked their cars. It was great!! Really relax and great to see all those classic from the 50s, 60s 70s and 80s. We took some pictures there as you can see above. At about 4: PM Petri and me looked at each other and knew we had to leave.

I want to give huge thanks to Carnut and his wife for their hospitality and taking good care of us. We hope we can give some of it back when you come to The Netherlands to visit! Thanks you so much! You both RULE!!

No, YOU guys rule !!! Oh, I forget to mention the beautiful flowers Petri brought for us...(some spam, Petri has this great flower-shop: http://www.fiori.nl/ )...haha, are you gonna delete THAT spam my friend ??? :loco:

Very cool pics and reviews! I'm hoping we get a Nevermore stop in Denver. Well, anywhere in Colorado. They won't be with Opeth in Denver so that's one opportunity missed.
