What albums mark a sad moment in metal?

I don't consider Stone Temple Pilots and Scott Weiland to be amazing by any means, but they got a pretty unfair deal when it came to being accused of copying Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder, since they have a 1989-1990 demo that sounds pretty much like their debut album. Pearl Jam didn't release anything until after that came out.

Sap is better than Jar of Flies (because of the first two songs, of course).

Well, damn, now I'm not sure. Perhaps just as good.

Emperor - IX Equilibrium. I actually like this album, but the overproduced sound alone separated it from its forbears. Not on the same plane basically. When I listen to Anthems I'm on another planet.
