What country makes the best black metal?

Can't quite remember, got a recomendation from a friend so i checked i guess a cupple of songs from one album out, sounded like crappy version of dark-ambient avant garde metal or something like that.

As for Poland, why the fuck is Sacrilegium so unheard of? Wicher is about the best Polish black metal I've heard besides Thousand Swords.

Interesting that NO ONE has even mentioned USBM. For my part, I would not mention much in the US either - try as I might, I just cannot get into much of the American BM at all. There is some intersting, more esoteric stuff I suppose, but for straight up BM, Europe always reigns to me. That said, I cannot pick one country...from France to Finland there is some really viscious shit out there today. Again it seems the reports of Black Metal's demise have been greatly exaggerated

I don't know who's making the best BM nowadays but in the past I would say Norway easily with Sweden just behind them.
