What made you sad today?

I also dont really like facebook. Its way too social and pointless, just like that new Google Plus thing. Both are terrible ways to make friends or get in touch with friends. If I want to get in touch with friends, I'll meet them in real life like a real man. And not hide behind my monitor to do it!

My birthday was pretty dull. I didnt do anything to celebrate it, only heard a couple of "happy birthday" from a few friends and family.

I absolutely don't think it's "way to social and pointless". I just think it makes people less social in real life and, as 1928 said above; not many people today actually makes a phone call or visits someone when they want something, they just go to Facebook. That being said I think Facebook makes it easier to follow certain things you like and makes it easier to be social with people you don't live near etc. But overall I don't like it since it's almost taking over peoples lives, and makes people less social.

Gibbon and I are on the same page. Exactly! Although, part of the reason I left is because I feel I'm having a very noticeable shift in personality, and as pseudo-intellectual and philosophical as it sounds, I think I need more serenity in my life, and doing away with Facebook (and reviving an old blog of mine) is a step in the right direction.

I also love message boards and have met so many great people over the years because of them. Facebook, from my perspective, has killed much of the activity on a lot of message boards. I still like to use them, and no longer having a Facebook gives me that much more incentive to post. :)

Keep your chin up, buddy! I hope something comes through for you ASAP!

Desperately trying to get a job without any success, yet.
Dont feel bad about it, its somewhat natural, since, a lot of people are in the same condition as you are at the moment. Including me, im without a job for a long time!

Also about facebook, I simply meant that it causes people to use it all the time and not talk on phone or meet friends in real life because they have it all in facebook. So it makes them social but only virtually. Real life wise of course not.

My car's battery died... so I had my brother drive me over to my dad's bodyshop (also my place of employment) to get one of our older cars to use in the meantime. So I come back home, we put my original car (a 2003 Ford Taurus) on one of our battery chargers and I go to the gym in the replacement car (a 1995 Ford Escort). Then I go to Subway to get a sandwich... come back out and the car won't start. I left my phone at home too 'cause I don't bring my phone to the gym... so I got out of the car and walked halfway across town through the snow in freezing, sweaty gym clothes. Call my brother again, he tells me I could've just wiggled the rusty, unreliable terminals on the battery and it would've started again!

Ugh... not my weekend! Just going to stay in until I get my new battery on Monday... :(

I know its been about a month since you posted that, but I hope things are better for you now. My dad had a similar case, although it had nothing to do with battery. He actually ran out of gasoline in the middle of the road. I was with him in the car back then, and we were both stuck for a few hours in the middle of nowhere until someone came to help us.

Injured myself beneath the nail of my index finger today while opening a can of Sardines. Definitely unpleasant.

I know. But suddenly I'm not too sure about sardines. I think they are a metaphor for modern oppression and the difficult choices we all have to make in our lives. So I think sardines are a bad thing in the current economic climate.
