What new metal have you guys been listening to?

These bands aren't exactly new but I've been digging them lately:

Fear My Thoughts
Parkway Drive (the album: horizons; a must for adam d fans)
The Faceless
Born of Osiris

White Chapel. GAWD DAMN :OMG: It's been kickin' my ass for two months now!! They've been around a few years, just released TSD last year. If you like Death vocals with some insanely low tune guitars check them out.

In Mourning is f'n awesome. Just discovered these guys...though they have been around for a while.

In Mourning is indeed good stuff. Also, the new To-Mera is high on my list. As is the new Decrepit Birth. "Diminishing Between Worlds" owns. If all else fails, hit up your local college music library and get some modern classical, in that lies some great inspiration and complexity.

That new Decrepit Birth is still getting frequent spins. That record kicks my ass. Good call!

People that may overlook "brutal" death metal should give this record a chance. It's fucking killer.

A few of these are newer bands I've just discovered, and a couple of these are bands that have been around for a while but now have new material.

Demiurg - the hate chamber (http://www.myspace.com/demiurgofficial)
Meshuggah - Obzen
Sonic Syndicate - only inhuman
Children of Bodom - blooddrunk
In Flames - A Sense of Purpose
Norther
Kalmah
Joe Satriani - Professor Satchafunkis and the musterion of rock
Paul Gilbert - silence followed by a deafening roar
Mercenary - Architect of lies
Arsis - We are the nightmare (http://www.myspace.com/arsis)

These are a bit lighter and more on the Pop side:

Exit Ten
The Casting Out (www.myspace.com/thecastingout --- the new project by the ex-lead singer of the former band Boy Sets Fire)
Rise Against - The sufferer & the witness
Framing Hanley (www.myspace.com/framinghanley)
Quietdrive (www.myspace.com/quietdrive)
Faber Drive (http://www.myspace.com/faberdrive)

Well, here's my .02 Ok, more like $2.50...
I've been kinda bored with my old stuff and a lot of the newer bands just seem to be lacking so right now I'm coming off a 'whacky bands' phase... FWIW, I was pretty unimpressed with the new Death Angel ( the lyrics still sounded like they were written like a 16 y/o, vox meh. ), Overkill ( where did DD Verni go in the mix? ) and the new Exodus too ( great music, vox meh ). The new Paradox album was a bit different from their classic, and one of my all-time favs Heresy but it's really good.

Whacky Metal:
Canvas Solaris - 2007 - Cortical Tectonics
Job for a Cowboy - 2007 - Genesis
Protest the Hero - 2008 - Fortress
Gojira - From Mars To Sirius
Sikth - 2006 - Death Of A Dead Day
Winds - 2007 - Prominence and Demise
Blotted Science - 2007 - The Machinations of Dementia
Dave Martone - When The Aliens Come
Acid Bath - 1994 - When The Kite String Pops ( just discovered these ole geniuses )

Regular Metal:
Woe Of Tyrants - 2007 - Behold The Lion
Anterior - 2007 - This Age of Silence
Testament -2008 - The Formation of Damnation ( Shhhhh.... )
Winds of Plague - 2008 - Decimate the Weak
Darkest Hour - 2007 - Deliver Us
As I Lay Dying - 2007 - An Ocean Between Us

And for something completely different:
Porcupine Tree - 2007 - Fear Of A Blank Planet
Russian Circles - S/T
Sounds Like Braille - Right Out if Left Field
At War With Self - 2005 - Torn Between Dimensions
