War for Territory
Ahoy? Just thought I'd uh... post my first thread with a discussion about careers and the such. You know... just how metal can a job be?

Discuss. Or not.

I work at a major US software company in Houston, and I'm basically sales support, and help in answering questions, whether they are basic or technical. I'm also the company-wide contact for certain pricing questions, a major contact for product distribution.

Currently I share an office with another dude. Of course, it's not so bad since the office is a corner window office.

Of course, this career is just a warm-up for what I really want to be: a lottery winner.

According to my profile: "Farting behind closed doors into leather chairs."

Not far from the truth, but while farting I do masonry estimating (pricing for brick and stone on residential housing). BORING but pays well and I get to play on UM like 4 hours out of the day most of the time.

Don't college fuckers work anymore? I've been working since high school, I'm only 25 and ready for retirement!

haha, I didn't work during college, but Summer did.

And I'll take a piece of that action. 26 here, and I feel I've put in my time and paid my dues. Retirement should be right around the corner.

i'd been working at toys r us for a long time (horrible job) but i quit so i can go home to texas and find out whats wrong with me without having to worry about getting back to work as soon as possible. so for now i sit on my arse and wait for tomorrow.

just eat some good ol' Tejas chili and barbecue, with a cold beer chaser and you'll be fine.

(at least until you need to take a dump) :tickled:

spaffe has the best job description EVAR. Phooey, you changed it. What was it again? "I fix lawn mowers god damnit" or something?

College Student/Distro Owner

not that I earn money from the distro or anything, at this point since there's been only 1 sale so far. My net profit is still about -$500 or something like that.

Last summer I was the master of grass mass genocide. That job ruled.

I work in a library. The job varies a lot of the time.

Recently, I was going around and changing records for books, also scanning everything into a barcode thing for inventory.

Before that, I helped people with their reseach. Customer service stuff.

Next, I'll be doing the records stuff again. That is all.

i'm a collage student living on the money i lend and is given by the government, i don't much except read and listen to music, suits me just fine though

I also share this exact day job with you. Abusing a multicultural government's student grants for NSBM albums is the greatest thing ever.

I'm a failed engineer so far because my current job is as a security guard. I'm hoping to get an engineering job soon though. The perks with the security guard job is that noone tells me what to do and I can be online more than 70% of my work hours.

hehe yeah it's was something like that, i was pretty bitter and extremly tired of that horrible job; had to stand in a cubicle for 7 hours each day testing all the functions of lawnmowers. glad that's over
