What's the one song that makes you cringe?

Taking Care of Business by BTO. Classic song, maybe, but I actually left a band because they insisted that we add it to our setlist. God that song makes me want to kill a kitten....

Personally, I'm completely repulsed that it took all the way until page 3 for someone to mention "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt.

I think there was a mass attempt at forgetting it. He was really popular and then faded fast. Thank goodness, because that guy's voice is like nails on a chalkboard. And this, coming from a fan of death metal.

BTW, a couple more artists on my "eject from reality" button - The Fray. HORRID. Also, how can we forget Five For Fighting? I once worked with a woman who said her daughter would crank Five For Fighting up in the car. I'm telling you, if I had a kid who listened to Five For Fighting, I would spank them and force them to listen to AC/DC and Sex Pistols for 48 hours straight so they could at least get a grasp on basic rock and roll.

Also, take a bow for the worst song of all time: Marcy Playground's "Sex and Candy."

The Melvins, same situation but many years back opening for GWAR. The crowd hated them and went as far as throwing lit firecrackers on stage while they played. I don't agree with it, but in a way they deserved something, the first 10 minutes of their set, one of the guys put a guitar in front of the amp and cranked it.... yah.. 10 minutes of lovely feedback. They also butchered an Alice Cooper song during their set, grounds for a thrashing.

The Melvins opened for Rush on part of one U.S. tour. Yep, with the predictable "grab pitchforks and burning torches" response from the audience.

Supposedly it was part of a deal wherein Primus would open on most dates of the tour -- Rush wanted them to open -- but as a favor, Primus' friends The Melvins would get to open a few Calif. dates instead. :ill:

One that springs instantly to mind. I wanna cut my own throat everytime i hear Sheryl Crows - If it makes you happyyyyyyyyyyy. Arrghhh what a horrible piece of dog turd song!

For metal, any song mike portnoy lends his vocal prowess to.

Honorable mentions to any song by most popular Australian artists, sheryl crow, celine dion, matchbox 20, nickelback and nirvana.

The song that really is getting on my nerves of late is that ridiculous, nerve-grating "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse. That piece of garbage even gets played at my gym, tempting me to crush my own skull with the nearest barbell. :puke:

you're so right james blunt is a sorry sack of shit

"I'm not a perfect peeerrssssoon..."

Hoobastank's "The Reason" makes me want to cut off the ears of anyone who enjoys that song. How people find that awful tune anything but boring and whiny is beyond me!

Blind Melon - "No Rain." To this DAY, that song makes me want to pull my hair out by the roots, and that of everyone around me.

I start getting really twitchy at that one horribly off-key Ashlee Simpson song, too.

Taking Care of Business by BTO.

*shudder*

I work for Office Depot, and that was our theme song for many years, to the point where they made us loop it on a display laptop for a few months - and that was my department, so I could NEVER ESCAPE IT. I was so glad when they finally shifted focus to something else...

Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" gets my nod. I heard it the other day and almost broke my hand from punching the wall. That "Money in the Bank" song makes my blood simmer, too
